Eukanuba dry food is not on the recall list HOWEVER,
it is a low grade food which means the company puts no care into its production. The ingredients are not nutritional for our pets, they come from questionable places like rendering plants, and because the pet food industry is not regulated they do not adhere to the type of quality controls that some other companies do.
I'm sorry to hear about your dogs but pet food companies really need to be blamed for their negligence and the problem is that no one has ever stood up to them before. I"m sorry but I can't count the number of times that I have heard personal stories about people finding things like plastic in foods made by those "trusted" companies.
DO NOT feed Iams/Eukanuba, Science Diet, Purina, Pedigree, Medical, and other vet/grocery store foods.
Homecooking is great if you have the time to do a lot of research ahead of time. Our pets have specific nutritional requirements and if you don't meet them, they will get sick. I would recommend in the meantime (while you're researching) to switch to a high quality, human grade food. Foods like Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Fromm, Wysong, Canidae, Merrick, etc use human grade fresh ingredients...none of the garbage found in this mass marketed foods.
Anyways, I hope your dogs better...I can only imagine how you feel. Please take good care of them!
PS...PLEASE don't feed your dogs hamburger...it is no better for them then it is us. Use chicken or turkey or lamb as their protein source. Beef is hard for them to digest and hamburger is most saturated fat which is REALLY bad for them...dogs get heart disease just like us.

No, actually dry Eukanuba does not contain wheat gluten at all or any wheat products and it is made a separate plant and not by Menu Foods and that plant has separate suppliers. It was not part of the recall. I fed Eukanuba until a few weeks ago (which is why I researched it so carefully). One of my dogs had to change diets due to an unrelated medical issue that had nothing to do with the Eukanuba and I had no problems with Eukanuba at all.
Dry dog food can spoil if it is stored too long and I once bought a bag that had obviously been in the warehouse too long and my dogs got sick on it and stopped eating it, just like yours. I contacted the manufacturer who told me they suspected the bag may have spoiled and sent me a container to send back a sample for testing and also a coupon for a new bag. I got a new bag and the dogs were fine after that. Spoilage may very likely be your issue, especially if all the dogs got sick eating the same food. Call Eukanuba and tell them what happened and send some of the food and the UPC label off the bag (if you have it) and batch number and see what they do for you.

My dogs also got sick on dry food. So BE VERY CAREFUL!
Mine wasn't Eukanuba, but Stater Bros. reduced cal. dry dog food. I will not feed my dogs any store bought food until this is resolved and the jury is most definitely still out on the cause.
So..here's my recipe:
It's not kibble, but you can make your own food. I use a big pot and put long grain brown rice in, all sorts of veggies, several pieces of chicken and some garlic cook it all up together, then put in zip lock bags enough for the day and freeze the extras in daily portions. My dogs of course think they died and went to heaven.
My dogs did not like the Stater Bros. food and were relucant to eat it. I thought they were just being spoiled, but then they became ill one after another. This was a couple of weeks BEFORE the announcement, so I was not influenced by it.

I wasn't aware there were any dry dog foods on the list. However, my rottie died in the vet's office on Feb. 5, after vomiting for over a week. I had recently changed his dry dog food, and he seemed to hate it. He would just sit and stare at it, but wound up eating part of the bag of dry, supplemented with Alpo Prime Cuts, which IS on the recall list. I haven't checked the updated recall list in a couple days.
Boiled chicken leg quarters, deboned, and mixed with rice also makes for a good homemade feed. You can throw in a few canned veggies (not corn) if you like.

That is not one of the recalled foods. I suggest that you report the incident, along with a copy of the vet's report. You may have discovered a new link to this story.

You shouldn't feed your dogs hamburgers and rice because they will beg for it if you decide to feed them normal dog food and they will get addicted to it. I once fed my dog a fresh chicken and it wants it everyday. You should check with the vet for healthy dog food. :)
