Chicken Breast Fillets in Root Beer Marinade
(5-ounce) boneless chicken breast fillets
Marinade:
1 cup olive oil
1 cup white wine
1/2 cup chopped shallots
1 tablespoon dry minced garlic
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 ounces root beer
French fries, for serving
Combine all of the ingredients for the marinade and add the chicken breasts. Marinate for approximately 4 hours in the refrigerator.
Preheat a grill. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place on the grill. Grill until cooked through, about 5 minutes per side.
To serve, place on a bun or plain bread and serve with French fries and a mug of root beer.

1 (18.25-ounce) package German chocolate cake mix
1 ¼ cups root beer (not diet)
¼ cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
Root Beer Frosting
COMBINE first 4 ingredients in a mixing bowl. Beat mixture at low speed with an electric mixer until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13- Ã 9-inch pan.
BAKE at 350° for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool cake 10 minutes. Spread Root Beer Frosting evenly over warm cake.
Root Beer Frosting:
MAKES 2 ¼ CUPS
PREP: 10 MIN., COOK: 5 MIN.
½ cup butter or margarine
7 tablespoons root beer (not diet)
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1 (16-ounce) package powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
BRING first 3 ingredients to a boil in a large saucepan over medium heat, stirring until butter melts. Remove from heat; whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.

Cake:

1 cup root beer

1 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon root beer extract
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and shortening until light. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture, along with the root beer and extract. Beat well. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into the cake batter. Pour into the cake pans.
Bake for about 35 minutes or until a tester inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before turning out onto wire racks to cool. When the cake is completely cool, frost.
To make the frosting, beat the cream with the sugar and extract until stiff. Spread between the layers and on top of the cooled cake.
