Cortisone is not 'addictive' but the main problem is that it weakens your bones. It is not a cure either, but just masks the pain. Without knowing what the pain is caused by, there is no way to tell how bad it will be when you get it out of your system. Sorry! HUGS!

Cortisone is a type of steroid, and an abrupt discontinuation of steroids can sort of "screw up" your adrenal gland function... which is NOT good. You should talk to your doctor and be weaned off the cortisone shots. You may or may not be in a lot of pain coming off the shots, but that's not the major issue with just stopping the steroid.

I know that cortisone injections are limited by the Physician. They can be harmful to the skeletal system. You will need to find another way to treat the pain. Good luck.
