Hi georgiegirl. The Old Testament and the New Testament are one continuous thread. Almost all of the scripture from the Old Testament points to the coming of the Messiah, Our Savior, Jesus Christ. In Isaiah 9:6 of the Old Testament God tells us of the birth of Jesus:
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Are you kidding?! In the Old Testament we have revelations of God, not only what He prophecies, but how He thinks, what He values, what certain people did when they met Him, what He sees in the future, how He loves, what Jesus was supposed to look like, God's habits, His opinion, what's going to happen in the future and how He presents Himself to us.
Do you know how many times Paul quoted the Old testament? And how many times Jesus quoted the Old Testament? How many things from the Old Testament Jesus fulfilled?
Please, if you are going to hold a particular view on the Bible, at least make it an educated one. Ignorance is not the way to be intelligent in either case of agreeing or disagreeing. Unless you don't care? If that's the case, then why did you bother?

what does it say back there in the very last pages of the book of Revelation? something about those who take away from this book, shall have those blessings taken away from them, and those that add to the words of this book, so shall the plagues in this book be added to them" something like that, why do you think the Old Testament is still part of the functioning Bible? So it is Jewish, do you know that all through the Old Testament the Son of God is mentioned, Yes, Jesus is mentioned all through the O T. who are the Special Ones????

...Christian writings... What "Christian" had anything to do with writing Scripture...? Matthew was a Jewish tax collector. Mark was a boy who followed a Jewish Carpenter and hung out with Peter a lot.... Luke was a Greek doctor... and John was a Jew who was a religious zealot... Paul was a Hebrew Pharisee, Jude and James were the brothers of Jesus...(Jews)... Peter was a Jewish fisherman... Where are all these so called "Christian" writers....? The "first" followers of Jesus were called... "followers of The Way"... they were all Jews and Greeks... read Romans, Chapter 1 vs. 16... read it several times... Who's been teaching you...? Rosie O'Donnell...?

Oh my misinformed friend! Jesus clearly says in the new Testament that he did not come to abolish the old law. Read: Matthew 5
17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
This is the NEW Testament! If you truly understand the Bible as a whole, you would not say what you did. Jesus fulfilled much of Old Testament prophecy and he simply, if you will, fine tunes Old Law. Example:
Matthew 5
21"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother[b]will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,[c]' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.
Do you really know what Christianity is about? You, if you are a Christian, need for God to search your heart and to pray for understanding of his Word. Whether you know it or not, you have really offered some pretty bad advice.

A true Christian regards the OT and NT with like reverence for it is all the word of God. It is true however that Christians are not subject to Mosaic Law for that was fulfilled by Christ and I might add with emphasis that is was not fulfill by the rest of us. Thus the blessing of the Law are upon Christ and the Curse upon the rest of us. Of course in Christ we have the Blessings in Him. The OT is the foundation of our faith and can not be dispensed with. When you say Pre-Christian you are right in one sense but wrong in another. Christ is in Genesis creating the world "The work of they Hand" and Christ visits Abraham and for tells Issac's birth ect. In the book of Danial Christ is the 4th man in the Fire, the Babylonian King declares that He is like "The Son of God" Melchizedek brings Abraham "Bread and Wine" to celebrate the Victory of the Father of Faith over his enemies. Children are as arrows in the quiver of the father-Proverbs "There is an arrow (Just One) in the quiver of God a polished shaft..."
All that Know God are taught by His Spirit and thus they shall see him in the OT.
"For him that has ears to hear let him hear".

The Bible says these things, meaning (OT) were written for our admonition and our learning.
The old testament is a picture of the new, for instance when the picked the Lamb in the OT to be given for a sacrifice it had to be without spot and they had to examine it 4 days I believe.
This was a picture of Jesus Christ, because he was our sacrifice and had to be without spot (sin) and they examined him 4 days. etc. etc. etc.
There are many many examples like this
When a jewish man got married he went to his fathers house and built on an extra room then came back to get his bride.
Jesus has gone to his fathers house and is building a place for us (his bride), and said then he would return and recieve us to himself.
The OT is rich with these types of pictures.

NO, not as such or how we expect of of it in the present day. The elders had come from church's in Jerusalem to Antioch and had urged them, yet there have been disagreements. so that all of them went as much as jerusalem to debate form it out if actuality be told. undergo in strategies in the present day there have been hundreds being baptized, so it honest to presume that there could have been alot of elders as human beings the place prepared in analyzing. So we haven't any concept of what number have been at this assembly might desire to of been 10, 20 or 2 hundred. i don't bear in mind any of the apostles preserving conferences (different than the only metioned) with those elders, so if it became a governing physique it became not considered as very substantial. in case you look and spot how the church (communities) worked and lived on the time, they might have visitors from different assemblies, and get carry of letters from the apostles and share teachings. No the place interior the bible is it made sparkling that they've been to be directed by potential of a often happening governing physique. the reality the bible we've has been discovered and picked up from in each and every single place, ( makes this sparkling), if there became a governing physique from so early we would have biblical and historic info to help this. there is not something from the two ,that rapidly helps this declare, while not having to hashbash a load of scriptures from diverse authors in differing contexts to help this declare. basically governing physique over us is God, and we would desire to continuously seek for to be conscious of him (very own courting) by way of his son Jesus christ. A governing physique can set policies and fill mouths with scriptures yet basically YHW can exchange our hearts.
