Doc, you answered your own question. Your purpose is what you are doing which is an expression of what God wants you to do.

This is what I tell kids whenever they ask me about the meaning of life and why we are here.

God created us to know him, love him and be happy with him in the next life. How do we go about doing that?

When God made us, he implanted within us a burning desire for his will. Knowing his will and following it will give meaning to our life. This implies that it is our responsibility to give meaning to our life. Our task then is to find out his will for us.

God's plan for our lives is etched in our desires. To discover God's plan we need to have a personal relationship with him. But because he gave us free will, he will not tell us to be a doctor, an engineer or priest. That's up to us. That means we have to pray and reflect on it a bit. Maybe even ask other people to help us discern it. No big deal, really.

All of us have received gifts from God. Our primary gift or best gift is an indication of God's plan for us. We will find in it the handwriting of God. It will point to our life project, our assigned purpose, our God ordained mission. It will also point to our happiness.

Peace and every blessing!

If a mayfly thinks, it probably thinks, "The water and the forest are so huge, why would a tiny thing like a mayfly have any meaning. Neither we nor the Mayfly know what tiny humans and even tinier mayflies will evolve to in a hundred thousand generations.

Why would the universe need anything? Just because you pittiful life is meaningless doesn't mean others can put their own meaning to their own lives.

The only purpose is the one you make. The universe hasn't even noticed us, and certainly doesn't need us.

The universe is huge.
Man is on one planet only?
Seems small.
Seems like the start of a project, then a pause, and later it will continue.

The universe does not need humans.
It's not dependant on us.

Maybe we are meaningless...
Either way, most of us still believe that everything exists for and because of us.

The universe is huge, and if you believe in a god or creator, it probably left us here to die and went onto another place in space to make another planet.

We have little meaning, only meaning that we make of ourselves. Just live and have fun, and who knows you can help others have fun too. :)

We or a more developed descendant may be a way for the universe to understand itself.
