It depends on where you are, and what the rules are regarding salvage titles for that area. In some states a salvage title is equal to a junk title, and the vehicle can be used for parts only. In others it can be on the road again, but only after an inspection declaring it roadworthy. So check that first. Also the resale value is diminished, and you may have problems trying to find insurance.

It doesn't change the process, it just will always carry a brand on the title, once a salvage, always a salvage. A potential buyer may not want to purchase a salvage bike, considering to become salvage in most states, it had to have 60% or more damage done to it. Having a title with a brand and trying to sell it, might take some work. You will be attracting a certain buyer, the average buyer would not make a purchase like that, unless they had the mechanical means to keep it running, or they wanted to use it for a parts bike.

A salvage title usually means that the vehicle has been damaged and the insurance company has signed off on it rather than make the repairs. A salvage title shouldn't mean anything different for registration, although when you try to insure it, the insurance company may be leery about insuring a damaged (even if it's been repaired) motorcycle.

I believe a salvage title with any vehicle means it was damaged in excess of 75% of its market value or when an insurance company pays a total-loss claim on a vehicle, but then allows the owner to retain or buy back the vehicle at its post-damage market value, which is often negligibly low. You can still register it but if you try to resell it you won't be able to get as much as a non salvage vehicle of the same model would.

It means it's been totaled out and sold by an insurance company to a repair shop. The title is still with it but some of the parts may not match the original serial numbers. Check the frame number and engine numbers against the title.
