I just always wondered if you can be "saved" and still go to hell.
I think if you backslide, you could. I read the bible to try to find answers and I came to the conclusion that its a yes and no answer. Yes - if you backslide and and still live in sin, and dont "abide" in him, and "no" if you keep doing what u supposed to do. Ok, I just answered my own question but sometimes I don't know where I stand, and if I will ever make it in the end and it worries me o the point that I dont want to hear anything about church, cuz seems like if you are saved but still live in sin (and it takes time to get away from it right??), or if you are struggling and almost want to give up, then you will still go to hell. Well which one is it? so if you are saved and God considers you righteous because u accepted him as you're saved, but you still sin sometimes (and im tired of asking for forgivenss) so there's no way you can go to hell then is it?? Well can you or not?? How do u know u are really abiding?

I have heard the argument over and over again that once saved always saved. And from this stems the idea that true Christians never leave the religion. And those that leave Christianity - well they just weren't true Christians to begin with.

This argument takes away the concept of free will and choice. That in Christianity God give people a choice on how they want to live their lives.

For many Christians, it would be a nice idea to believe that once you attain salvation that nothing you do would ever jepordaize that.

The truth is, you can always walk away. In Christian theology - if one turns away from God, no matter what they believed in before, and dies in this state - they will be condemned to hell. Because they chose life wihout God.

All Christians sin. Just because you sin doens't mean you aren't saved. But if you chose to stop asking for forgiveness or you chose to keep sinning the same way over and over again then in effect you are walking away from salvation.

Asking for forgivness doesn't mean you have to give a blow by blow. It's saying you've screwed up and you need some help and you are sorry for going against God. Why should you get tired of doing that -unless you don't really mean what you say?

Perhaps the answer is that you are focusing too much on the sin in your life instead of the God who is able to deliver you. Salvation is an ongoing process. If there is a prticular sin that seems to keep tripping you up, you may want to seek some advice on it. Being "saved" doesn't mean that you're suddenly going to be perfect and never sin. Now, you're just more aware of it when you do wrong. God NEVER, EVER gets tired of you coming to Him for forgiveness. When you STOP asking Him, then you have cause for concern. He demonstrated His love to us by giving His only begotten Son to die WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS. How much more then, will grace and mercy abound if you have turned your life over to him. I'm not saying go have a "sinfest" with the thought in your mind, "Well, I'll just go ask God to forgive me afterwards". NEVER give up! It DOES take time to get away from sinful habits. Some of those things have been with you for a lifetime (or from generations before you). They're not gonna disappear overnight. But they WILL if you keep on trying. God is MORE than able. Feel free to email me with any questions you have. Being confident in this very thing: That He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to bring it to completion"

I understand your questions, many feel the same way. Salvation is a gift from God, He gives it to us by His grace. Grace is unmerited favor, getting what we need but what we do not deserve. We did nothing to deserve grace, and God gave it to us anyway. He transforms us by His Holy Spirit. A man who continues to live in sin should question if he is really in the faith. However when God truly saves us it is totally by His power and grace, we do nothing to deserve it and there is no way we can give it back. Good works do not save you. If good works could save you then Christs death was needless. He was the fulfillment of the law. The law leads us to Christ because we realize that we are not able to keep it fully. The Bible says that if you even hate your brother in your heart then you are a murderer. We are guilty. Live for the Lord and give it all to Him, He keeps His promises. He is not like a man that He should change His mind. He does not want you to live in fear that you will lose His love. If you have trusted Him you are His and you will not be lost.

No.
Once you are Born-Again (you, a spirit that has been recreated)you cannot go to hell unless you mess-up your spirit again.

To mess-up your spirit AFTER you have been recreated (saved), you have to commit HIGH TREASON.
HIGH TREASON is what Adam did when he ate from that tree.
High Treason is another name for the UNPARDONABLE SIN.
This is the sin a Christian commits to lose his, her Salvation.
The Unpardonable Sin is not like the regular old sins such as: lying, stealing, murder, being gay, drunkeness etc..
The Unpardonable Sin is going up High in the Spiritual Realm by Walking with GOD (Jesus) then making a decision to Walk Away from all of it for good.
Turning your back on Jesus, Not wanting Jesus anymore for your Saviour.
Basically wanting to go back into the world and do worldly things.

Very few Christians commit this sin and it is HARD to COMMIT. It takes Time to commit the unpardonable sin too.

If you are afraid you have committed this sin YOU HAVE NOT Committed it. That simple.

Bible Verses to support Unpardonable Sin:
Hebrews chapter 6 verses 4,5,6

You have to do everything in verses 4 and 5 (which will really put you up close to Jesus in the Spritual Realm) then do verse 6 to lose your salvation.
Hard to commit this sin, few ever commit it.
Walk with GOD and Keep on Keeping on!
GOD will forgive all other sins!
No matter how many times you fail!
Keep on trying!
Hope this helps.
Ditto...............

I am trying to understand your point. Once you are saved through believed that Jesus died on the cross to pay off my sins and that He rose three days later. you received the everlasting gift of eternal life. The gift is heaven, so once you are saved, and then you will go to heaven period. Yes, we will ALWAYS struggle with our sins. It will never go away until we arrive in Heaven. You should not be worry about in Hell if you already are saved. Maybe it is just Satan is trying to confuse you. Ignore it and you are perfect fine if you are understand clearly how to become saved, and then no worry. :-)

No, once you are saved you are always saved. The Bible says that if we believe on the name of Jesus we obtain EVERLASTING life. When a Christian is back slidden they are perfectly aware that what they are doing is wrong and sin. Before a person gets saved they may not see anything wrong with what they are doing. To say that we can loose our salvation implies that we did something to get it in the first place....that we obtained salvation by being good. But our works is not what saves us, it is by grace through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ and believing on Him that we are saved.

WOW...you really have a difficult question there. If you go to hell, you are not saved. God tells us that there are two kinds of faith, dead faith and saving faith (James 2:14-26) Dead faith is faith that produces nothing. It is a faith by word only and nothing showing in the persons actions. A saving faith is one that you can see from the outside. It will produce works that give evidence of the living faith within. This is not to say that a saved person will not sin. Paul states in Romans 7:19-20 that the things he knows are not right are the things he does and the things he knows are right are the things he does not do. But I think the key here is the fact that he is not satisfied with this, he desires to follow what is right and to live his life as he aught. He wants to do the right thing at the very core of who he is and he despises the part of him that causes him to stumble. If you contrast this with some that you have seen who call themselves Christian, but live their lives as though they have no God but themselves, I think you will see the difference.

It is not our works which save us, our works are the product of our faith, it is us giving our lives to Christ that saves us. Many accept Him as Savior, but never as Lord and I regret to say...I see no evidence in scripture of living a life devoid of Christ's Lordship as being a saving faith. (see James) If you are saved, when you stand before God, He sees the rightousness of Christ and not your sin. When Christ died for your sins, it was for all of them, not just for the ones that you were aware of when you first came to Him. He knew of your entire life that evening He hung on the cross, there is nothing that will surprise Him. If you trust in this and repent, then your debt has been paid in full. After that, you live your life in obedience out of love and gratitude for the life He has given you, not out of threat of punishment.

I think a good clue as to whether you are abiding in Him is to examine your life in the light of what you know to be true about salvation. If you are struggling, then that is a good sign. If you live with sin and it does nothing to your concience, you may want to do some deep soul searching. Growing closer to Christ is a life long process and although we strive to be like Him, we know He loves us in spite of our short comings, this in turn just draws us closer.

Even if we are backslidden it's still very hard to sin and not be convicted by the Holy Spirit. If you're struggling most likely you are still saved. Jesus knows your heart. We may stumble and fall, but as long as we keep following Him, even if we have to crawl sometimes, it means that we are walking in faith. Don't forget we are not saved by our efforts or works, but by His grace.

well, saved or not everyone sins. it's a fact of life. we're human. this difference is that when you get saved God forgives your sins-past, present, and future. sinning itself doesn't compromise your salvation. when you start to not care that you're sinning then you might have a problem

to Chris: how can you say that the bible really teaches that there is no hell. the bible talks about hell and as far as no one going to heaven, jesus himself said that he was going to prepare a place for us in paradise (aka Heaven)

Some believe that you can abandon your salvation. Some believe that it is sealed from the first acceptance. If you truly believed, you would not turn your back on God. I like the sealed view. God knows... I'm on the fence. Just don't leave Him and it won't be a concern.
