Well the jurors are randomly picked from a pool of people registed with the secratary of state (drivers licence and state ID cards).
The process of picking a jury in a court is called Voir Dire. it's a streightforward process, but the implications are vast in a trial. Both sides are allowed question a potneital juror pool. both sides are allowed to dismiss a specific number of jurors (usually an unlimited #)with a reason and a specific numbers of jurors with out a reason. Most attornes will ask open ended question to get the potential jurors to talk. "the cops are always right/ wrong sometimes". here is a common stratagy used in voir dire with the "cops are right/wrong sometimes"
the next level of the probe would have been:
Q. What do you mean when you say, "cops are right/wrong sometimes?"
Q. What kind of personal expreinces have you had which made you feel ‘they don’t get things right/wrong sometimes?’
Q. What have other people told you about their experiences with cop who don’t do things right/wrong sometimes?
if the potential juror stumped the attorney, a old tick is to repeat the last part of the potention juror sentence and raising your voice slightly as if you were asking a question.
other stuff to add to keep the potential jurors to continue speaking is ""ahh...ok", "and then what", "ohh i see" noding your head. This usually implys agreement and tends to get the potential jurors to talk more.
You continue the asking open ended questions until the juror reveals enough about himself that you can make an intelligent decision. If one is not sure what the potention juror means. ask another question. try to avoid rescuing the potnetial juror by finishing his unfinished sentence or thought. let him finish up the sentence. they lead, attorny follows. the point to to get the potential juror to talk and have the session feel like a conversation and not feel like an interrogation.
the point is to turn the unknow to a known. If one is faced with a strong willed..."its my way or the hi-way" personality. its best to get that out during voir dire, so one knows whose side will this explosion of polarized thinking will explode on. or have the potential juror dismissed with cause articulating that that potential juror is biased and is a reason for dismissal with a reason.

Registered voters and drivers license holders. Then when you are summoned you go in the first day. If you are chosen for a jury pool then you go to the court room where the lawyers and judges question you. Then they either accept you for the trial or send you back to wait. If you are not chosen the first day you call in each morning of you term (usually 2 weeks) to see if you have to go in that day.

They pick from registered voters or those with a driver's license. I used to think you hate to be registered to vote to get picked, but my brother-in-law is not registered to vote and he was picked from the driver's license to serve on a jury.
