Okay, I think my cat is crazy. I feel I give it adequate attention (lots), but it STILL wants more attention. It wants attention ALL of the time, and she cries when I don't give her 100% of my attention. It's hard for me to get work done when she's around because she cries and starts to knock things off desks, endtables, and even tries to tear down some posters on my walls... what is her deal? When I "punish" her for being bad, she just jumps right back and starts in at what she was doing again (the bad things). It's getting really annoying. Any thoughts?

OMG, that sounds just like my cat! She is probably the most assertive cat in the universe, and will NOT be punished for her bad, attention-seeking behavior. (She's been known to attack people who yell at her.)
What helped us? Getting a second cat (an older neutered male in our case).
They keep each other company and play together. It changed her life completely. I also don't feel guilty about leaving her home alone all day long while I'm at work, and she no longer waits on the doormat at the front door all day. And she is just as affectionate - just not as demanding. :-)
Good luck!

I have taken some classes on cats and you could be punishing her in the wrong way lots of people think you can punish a cat the same way you do a dog and they will learn but this is not true. If you punish a cat the same way a dog then you will get no results. Cats hate water if you spray it with a squirt gun it should leave you alone after a while. Also find it a distraction lazer pointers work miracles. They will spend hours chasing the light around just attach the lazer pointer to something that moves like a string on a fan. Cats love toys and they are your key to getting them off of you.

My kitten must be your cats brother! I thought cats were suppose to be independent.
He is now 11 months old and has had some health problems, partially from the bad pouced food. He calmed down from that, but now that he is better, he is back to that and he is becoming mean too.
I try to play with mine for a certain amount of time a day. He sleeps when I am at work and wants my attention when I get home for at least the first ten minutes. My boyfriend comes over and helps by wearing him out.
I have a stick with a string on it and I will flip it around and he jumps in the air at it for about 15 min and then gets tired. He is calm after that for a while.
I also will give him something with catnip in it which will keep his attention for a while.
I found a ball with a mouse in it that you turn the mouse on and you set it down. The ball will roll around in your house and keeps little kitty occupied for a while.
You can also go into a room and shut the door to keep little kitty out while you are working and do that consistantly the same time everyday and she will get use to it. Use a squirt bottle when she is bad. That helps my kitty. I also have a scat cat. It is a can of spray that has a motion detector on it. I put it on the counter and when he jumps on there, it senses him there and sprays a gasless odorless spray and he will stay off. You could get one and put it on your table. It is like this one on this website: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=10802&Ntt=scat&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&pc=1&N=0&Nty=1 You can find them elsewhere a bit cheaper. It works for my kitty, along with the water bottle. My kitty is declawed in the front only, but he still uses them front paws like he has claws. He grabs things very well and knocks things over too.
If I think of anymore ideas, I will let you know. Best wishes to you.

you might even want to try a hanger with that curly string with toys on the end of it. This way you can hang it in inconspicuous places and even just hang it in the closet when you have guests or something and you don't want it to be seen.
A mirror is always fun for the kitty. If you don't feel you can handle having another cat - this is the easiest solution. She will feel she has a friend of her own. Put some toys in front of the mirror and instant animation and preoccupation. If she looses interest all you have to do is throw another toy in that direction and off she goes.
Hopefully these ideas help.

Your cat may be bored and bored cats can become attention addicts or worse, destructive. Create a more interesting and stimulation living environment for your cat and you'll find, he'll be more willing to leave you alone for long stretches of the day. You can do this with:
(1) Climbing frames like a cat tree or cat condo positioned to give the cat a good view of the outside world. Cat trees and condos will alo satisfy your cat's need to climb on things and perch to watch the goings on of the rest of the world.
(2) Strategically positioned windowpane bird feeders ("Cat TV"). Its amazing how absorbed a cat could get just watching birds!
(3) An assortment of mobile toys or interractive toys perhaps enhanced with catnip or hunting lures. Change them around regularly so your cat won't get bored with them.
(4) Putting the day's ration of kibble in a buster cube (pet food puzzle). The food puzzle is a great way to stimulate an indoor cat.
(5) Provide an outdoor enclosure. Google "cat enclosures" and you'll see many great ideas for a cat outdoor enclosure.

I agree with the last answer. Another cat would be nice. Also lots of toys. They love those little mice you can buy. Also the poles with things to bat are great. Shoot mine has a shoestring that he fell in love with. He will bring it in front of my computer, when I am trying to type and let me throw it for him and he will return it to me again. Cats love games. I also keep lots of mice with me. When one interrupts me I will throw a mouse (by the way these are TOY mice) and they will chase it. It only takes a second to throw and they take time to chase it. Of course I have to pick them all up before bed and put them back in the toybox. Yes, my cats have their own toybox.

Kitty is lonley and bored. :(
Get another kitty for her to play with and she will be happier and let you get some work done.
Try some interactive toys that allow kitty to play alone as well.
