Sometimes it is hard to keep your footing in this forum, especially when we have so many groups all lashing out at one another. There are a few people (no names) I wonder about. Do you think some people come here for the specific purpose of getting a "rise" out of the "opposition"...of course, sooner or later someone will lash back, and they'll get all defensive, crying "you started it"
Ever feel like you took a wrong turn somewhere an landed in a grammar school playground?
When a user is consistently rude to you, what do you, personally do?
"Sticks and stones can break my bones
But names can never hurt me!
So NYAAAH!"
Wicans and Pagans, Christians and atheists, agnostics and everyone else...let's have a BIG group hug!

Actually, Combine, I wasn't thinking of you...do you think your name ought to be on that list?
Yeah, there's at least one who answered me who knows who they are...extray BIG hug.
Now, anyone who is still feeling cranky can go and take a valium, or have a nice long hot bath, or maybe watch an old movie...
Whatever it takes to mellow you out so you can get along with people, even if you don't agree with them. You know, just because you don't agree, doesn't necessarily make them wrong and you right.

Hey, Alex, how are you this evening? Have you been in here all day long?
Yeah, I remember the incident you're talking about...I had asked atheists whether they thought faith meant believing without proof, got a ton of yes answers, proceeded to try to explain that believing there is no God, by that logic, also faith, and lo and behold, a bunch of people got their panties in a wad. Yeah, you were one of them. Then, this morning, when I tried to explain that telling us about leprachauns or pink unicorns was getting as old to us as Pascal's wager was to you, you told me I was warped, so I asked you if you might be having a bit of a problem.
Didn't your Mom ever tell you not to dish it if you can't take it? Gee whiz, girl, that was hours ago, I've been out having a day with the grandkids, I had pretty much forgotten all about you. Guess I hit a nerve, huh?
Sorry. Hey, have some of my hot fudge sundae. It'll make you feel better...

Angeltress,
That is rather good. Here are a few people on this site that are NEVER rude to anyone. I don't believe that FATHER K is ever rude to anyone. He also attempts to answer lots of questions and is full of knowledge in the Religious realm. Jan has a wonderful Heart as does Zena, Midge, and the Beautiful Muslim. There are others who are very good with others also such as the Berean, Josie, and Dangel. I am forgetting a number of people but that is a memory problem. I attempt to be as positive with others as I possibly can. There are times that my illness causes me to get rather nasty and I appologize for that. If I have ever hurt anyone on this site it is probably a result of that. Have a great evening!
Thanks,
Eds, Christian

Some respondents and their replies are irksome while digging in on certain religions. Nevertheless, I try to explain my answers in such a way that would be beneficial to all.

On a good note I have encountered many more well-wishers and cordial people with whom I've exchanged messages.

I believe that everyone has the right to believe as they wish and ought to allow the same freedom to others regardless how bizarre they think another religion and its beliefs may be.

Occasionally I get frustrated over the negativity and purposely stay away for a while. But the R&S forum has a magnet and I usually come right back.

Maybe I'm too new for this to be an issue, but even so, I believe everyone has a right to their own opinion. If we all thought and believed the same way, this whole forum would be redundant. I try to always be polite. Sometimes I am concerned that something I've said in jest may come across witha bit more bite than I had intended, but I try to watch that.

Yes, for some reason, a lot of people have a lot of anger towards one particular religion or another, and since they probably don't have the nerve to lash out in "real life" they do so on here. They just get out all the bad feelings they have here. They think it can't hurt anyone, because it's a fairly impersonal forum. Some forget that there are living, breathing human beings reading and asking these questions.

I hope for people to stop and realize that they can really hurt people by what they say and do, even on the computer, and I hope that they come to the place where they actually care about that.

Wow. I think I've answered questions of a user exactly like that one you're talking about! It's uncanny! Almost like you were there or something.

Today, while she was in the midst of a hissy fit after posting about ridiculous stereotypes about one group of people, she even used that tired old "Are you PMSing?" because I disagreed with her. Can you believe that there are people like that out there? Who would be so childish and take things to such a personal level? I do think she posts these things just to get a rise out of people. It's so rude.

When people like that are consistently rude to me, like that asker from this morning, I usually swing back. What else can you do? I suppose it would be wiser to ignore the jerks, but it's hard and they do get under your skin. Especially when you try reasoning with them and refuse to listen. Or they aren't bright enough to understand simple reasoning. It's frustrating though.

Edit : Oh....was that you earlier? You can assume what you like. I figure that's what you do anyway. I was just agreeing that the people you're describing (And yes you match the description of the exact people that bother you...ironic, isn't it?) annoy the hell out of me too. They're rude, and they are childish. As you showed me earlier..and again now. I just find it amusing that you're on here complaining about people who act like you do. It's pretty funny, you have to admit.

But if you're going to be a jerk (And a passive aggressive one at that--you can look that up at wikipedia or something. The way you're acting is pretty much a textbook case.) by insulting people and posting questions to rile people, maybe you shouldn't be pretending that you're the victim, no?

"I had pretty much forgotten all about you." The fact that you were posting almost direct quotes from me earlier mkes me suspect otherwise. But do keep on with the PMS remarks and the passive aggressive insults. I know it makes you feel better.

I luv u, u luv me, we are happy family, with a great big hug and kiss from me to u, won't u say u luv me too?

I honestly try to tolerate everyone here. And I rather avoid them than attack people who are rude and obnoxious.

I think personally that it is annoying when one thinks that they know me and what I meant even if I have never said something they claim I said. I think we should try to hear each other out. It does not bother me if someone disagrees with my beliefs. Only the eternal point makes things a bit sad. But I believe that God knows how to have His job done.

Personally I come to R & S to try and learn. I try to understand the basic human need for "something more".

As a Atheist, I know what my views are based on. Scientific reasoning and rational observation. But of course not all views are based on these principles so I wonder, what could drive man to unconditionally believe in something that has no worldly or physical manifestation? On something they have never seen, heard, witnessed?

When organized religion was founded, there was alot of unexplainable things going on, which explains early gods of fire and thunder and the sea. All of these were strange and mysterious forces long ago. But as we progress, things become explained. We figure things out, we grow. So as I can see the need for the the ultimate explanation then ( its the will of god) , I don't see the need to continue using our "trump card" in light of the knowledge we have achieved. Of course the fear of death warrants a safety net for the after-life, and even myself as a atheist, I have my own theory of a continuation after death. But its not based on someone else's opinion and definitely not based on 2000 yr old opinions.

As a whole, I see religion being filtered out, as we gain more knowledge and as some of the older generations, who may or may not be open to some of those ideas, "die off" for lack of a better term. And I can't help but take comfort in this observation. Most religious people are kind, good hearted people. But those who have used and continue to use religion to explain all of their horrible actions have ruined any chance of large scale organized religion in a educated civil world ( in the future of course). More death and destruction has been caused in "gods name" than with any weapon man could make.

Come on people...In this day and age, how can anyone with enough intelligence to get out of bed in the morning, justify strapping a bomb to a child's chest and sending him to a crowd of people to kill and die. By telling him he will get 70 virgins and its god's will? It a extreme example I know, but no more unreasonable as some other beliefs.

This isn't a strike against anyones faith. Being a spiritual person is a good thing in my opinion. It helps alot of people lead better lives. But when you use your spirituality to effect the free will of others, in any way, it has gone too far.

You really have to have a tough skin to step into the R&S portion of Yahoo answers. If I find a question that is an attack on Christianity, I will either try to answer it with the information that I know or I just move on.
And oh here is a hug for you :-)

Mamy of us here in this category tend to harass, to insult or embarass, to despise belief of God as well uttering unnecessary things against person and against God and Jesus Christ. Some pretend to be the most intelligent man in this section to have studied science alone and everything that is existing on earth, and as if he is the only person to have undegone studies of something..

We should advise our selves not to hurt anybody in asking questions becasue if the question is good yet there are comments stated that will surely hurt somebodys feelings, so the outcome is hated arguments and answer..

The Atheists and the Pagans should not utter bad words against our God, the Christian God, Muslim God or Islam God, Hindu God and other true God. according to ones belief.

I believe what the Gospels teach about Jesus except that Jesus sinned the same as those three guys who visited him on the Eve of his death which builds the perfect defense against those who follow the Anti-Christ. No human can be God, we all either serve him or expect to be served. Having Jesus die for our sins is being served by God which is what only the Anti-Christ would want you to believe. If being told the truth is rude, then the Anti-Christ is in control because he has made whats right, wrong.
