i'm in a really tough situation and i need someone to talk to. i'm not sure if i wanna talk to a psychologist or not but probably no. should i talk to one of my friends... what?

Well...it's really a judgement call measured with a degree of common sense. Some problems may simply need a good friend around to hear you out. But bear in mind: friends don't carry degrees as therapists or psychological professionals.

If the problem is too deep for friends, I'd say make your first step towards seeking a licensed therapist to hear you out; if your problem scales beyond their help, they'll recommend you to a good psychological professional---who can help.

Talk to a psychiatrist if you really need some help. Friends will listen, but most don't really know what they're talking about when it comes to these things. Don't take a chance with someone without a degree in psychology.

it depends. what kind of situation? friends can give advice, and a really good friend can help you through a difficult spot. a pro can help with more in depth stuff. are you depressed, are you in financial trouble, are you preg and no father? if you think you need some really in depth help go to a pro.

Check with your employer, most have an EPA, "employee assistance program" with free cousling sessions. You need to speak with someone who does not know you or have bias. check with webmd. they may have some type of web chat session.
