It doesn't hurt. But if you are hurting those around you for publicity, then you are a very horrible person.
I would rather be vain in my own company in a sea of strangers rather than friends.
If you can find a vain friend, what have you got to lose?

No, you want to be CONFIDENT, not vain.
You want to be SELF-ASSURED and GRACEFUL.
Vain people have lost control of their PRIDE in their abilities, and beauty - and have shut off others from entering their heart. CONCEIT is the twin whisper of being VAIN in ones heart.
Keep your heart open to your family and friends helps control a wave of conceit and it's partner vainity.
Pride is important - for being a human, but be cautious in accepting praise. Being HUMBLE can protect you against listening to only the people that praise you for nothing (usually for a favor), and not listening to constructive praise and comments.

No it is not OK. To be vain is to set ones self up in high esteem.
"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.Give her the reward she has earned , and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 3:31

Vain, no. There is nothing wrong with being proud about the way you look. Just don't let it control you.

Vanity should come only when nessecary, otherwise you waste your energy for almost nothing..my advice is to be yourself.. Being Vain doesn't pay you anything & to me makes others look conceited (which is a horrible thing)..

Vanity is endemic in humans. We are all vain to a certain extent, so there's no sense in trying to ban it, or call it something silly, like 'sin'. Modify it, control it, by all means, but hey! If you've got it, flaunt it!

One of the good qualities the bible mentions is being humble. Being vain means you're too proud of yourself.

Not around me. I find vanity most unattractive in any personality. As much as I can appreciate a beautiful woman, I am turned off by the hyper-image conscious types.

No, it's not a sign of good moral character. Pride, in most religions, is considered a bad thing. I think everyone has to have a little pride though.
