Ok, i am gonna answer this honestly and truly. i am a christian and lately there has been so much waying me down that i just decided to give up and i was on the verge of doing some things you really don't wanna know and in that time i already was. but just realizing that your doing those things makes me feel horrible because of the fact that God has been there for me for ever and i am just gonna give up and quit cus i cant handle it by myself. but thats the thing, im not alone. God is always there. so basically, your realizing thats its not all about you. its understanding your mistakes and why they affected you. You really got to think about it. im not sayin take 5 days to think about how you made fun of someone but im just tellin you, God is no fool and if you think just by sayin it that somehow you'll be fine, your the fool. so its:
Believing, Trusting, and Knowing with full Hope and no Doubt that you were wrong and God is Forgiveness and He will give you forgiveness if you truly believe. That's repentance.

The steps are:

1. Confess that you are a sinner.
2. Confess that you deserve punishment for your sin.
3. Express your sorow.
4. Pray for God's mercy.

If you are uncertain how to put all that together, there is a prayer commonly known as the Act of Contrition. There are several versions--I'll provide one here that is commonly used by Lutherans. Of course, if you don't really mean it, you'll just be muttering words.

"I, a poor, miserable sinner, confess unto You all my sins and iniquities with which I have ever offended You and justly deserved Your temporal and eternal punishment. But I am heartily sorry for them and sincerely repent of them, and I pray You of Your boundless mercy and for the sake of the holy, innocent, bitter sufferings and death of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me, a poor, sinful being."

That having been said, if you have not been baptized, you need to be, as this is the normal means God has instituted for entrance into His family. And if you have been living in willful sin, you should seek counsel from a pastor or priest. I recommend finding a church that teaches that the clergy have actual authority to forgive sin--this would include Lutherans, Episcopals/Anglicans, Catholics, and Orthodox.

Repentance is first recognizing what sins needs to be addressed. Secondly, having a deep sorrow and regret for what was done with the consecrated promise of not doing it ever again.

It involves confession toward the person wronged and to the authorized priesthood holder. Next, ridding oneself of those things connected with the sin and following up with contrite prayer to the Heavenly Father for forgiveness is required.

Once all this is done you must forgive yourself and move on.

Repentance requires a positive change of heart and a positive change in action.

Repent of your sins ...Basically turn away ( run ) from them and try not to do them again , but since we live in a body that lust after sins we need to pray for forgiveness and strength to stay away from them

There are several descriptions in the Bible: I'll look up a couple for you.

2 Corinthians 6:9 "I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything through us. 10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11 For behold what earnestness this very thing, this godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what avenging of wrong! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter."

James 4: 6 "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you."

sometimes actual tears but, definitely try for restitution or if it can not be put to rights by this some sort of "Community Service". This is of course with the Sacrament of Confession with the Penance prescribed by the priest.

I have only seen it happen once. There was this girl. We were in bed. Just before she had her big moment, I heard her say "Oh Jesus, I Love You"! For a while her eyes were sort of rolled back in her head. Got me so excited I almost did the same damm thing!
