I don't know how it turned into a joke, but they are the infamous words spoken by Lindy Chamberlain when her daughter Azaria disappeared in outback Australia, I think it was in the early 80s. They tried Lindy for murder because no one believed her and they never found the body. I think she was jailed for quite a while but was aquitted years later. The movie they made about it was called a cry in the dark and starred Meryl Streep ( i think)

A dingo is in the dog family. They are in Australia, and very mean. Very wild.
