I'm not picking on Michael, but does he really need to pay for a pit crew he's not using? Hopefully, they'll see some action soon. Survival of the fittest at its best. Come on, Mikey, Sammy Hagar has it right - can't you drive a little faster on pole day?

Maybe they change the tires on his rental car when he leaves the track after failing to qualify.

I would hope that his crew is getting paid, there paychecks aren't based on him racing or winning. You can bet there seeing all kinds of action, there watching the race just like we are.Micheal Waltrip needs to ditch one of his cars, replace Dale with new talent. Then Mikey can run the team from the sidelines and make all the commercials he wants.

The team is being paid.As long as they are in the shop working then they are earning their checks.
When the emotional "strain" of Daytona wears off Mikey will relax a little and do better.I feel it will be the next restrictor plate race.He will be inspected from top to bottom front to rear and if he has no problem the may feel that the monkey is off his back and do a little better quailifing.

Many pit crew members have regular job at the shop. The only two cars with a full-time pit crew are the 83 and 84. The rest of the pit crew members not fitting into those two scenarios keep regular non-NASCAR jobs. As for MWR, if their sole duty is pitting the car, I would assume they would get paid at least a partial amount.

His pit crew also works in the gararge during the week, so the answer to your question is yes they are getting paid.

I hate the NASCAR point system. Drivers should be qualified on time every race, no privledges. It is becoming all about the big money teams like Roush and Hendricks. I am starting to hate the sport I used to love. Yes they still get paid.

Not sure - but I'm sure they get all the Domino's pizza that they want :)
Try going to NASCAR.com -- Bootie Barker has a weekly page where he answers questions like that. The problem is that they changed the website, and I don't know where everything is on it now...
