As best man (assuming you accept the invitation) here is what you need to know and do:

You will need to be the grooms backbone - be there for him. You will also need to plan a bachelor party - you pay for this -
( since you are only 17, I would plan it as a house party or a small get together with the groomsman). Make sure it takes place at least 2 weeks before the wedding, because the 2 weeks right before the wedding will be very hectic and the groom will not have time to party. You will also need to have a heartfelt speech prepared for the wedding reception. You will need to be sure all of the groomsman have their tux fittings at the appropriate times ( the groom will inform you of that). Be aware that the best man and groomsman all pay for their own tux and shoes. You will need to dance with the maid of honor during the wedding reception. You will also hold the rings during the ceremony.

That pretty much sums it up, unless the bride and groom have any other special requests ( such as special readings during the ceremony).

Good Luck!!!!

Well it is expensive since you will probably have to rent a tux if you do not have one. Then if you go online or get an etiquette book, it will list the duties of best man better than I could write all of them here. It is a big job so if you read and decide against it, you could say that you didnt realize all that you had to do and won't be able to and good friends should understand that. But if you want to do it, then you may go ahead
