The original Rice Krispies Treats recipe posted here is the best. But do NOT feel as if you are limited to just the original recipe.
If you use Cocoa Krispies instead of regular rice krispies, it makes a yummy chocolate version. You can also use Fruity Pebbles instead of the rice krispies for a colorful treat kids love! :) Have fun!!! :)

Around Christmas this is a good one though I'll be using the other recipes : gather all of the ingredients for a regular batch of treats but also buy or bring oil of peppermint , green food coloring, and some RED-HOTS. mix Peppermint oil,and green food color with the marshmallow add to the Rice Krispies then on wax paper make wreaths apx 2-3in in diameter put on the Red-Hots to look like Holly berries and you'll have a great Christmas treat for the kiddies and you will probably get good reviews from the Big kids too.

These are the originals...amazingly good recipe!!!
6 cups Rice Krispies
3 tablespoons butter
1 (10 ounce) package regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Remove from heat.
(It would be perfect to be measuring out all of the cereal at this time, having it ready in a large bowl.).
Working quickly, add rice krispies cereal, and stir until the cereal is well coated.
Using a buttered spatula or waxed paper, press the mixture evenly into a greased 13 by 9 by 2 inch pan (or whatever pan you have on hand).
When the treats are cooled, cut into squares.
Serve, and enjoy!
Also, if you like peanut butter, this is such a delicious recipe for PB rice krispies---
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup smooth peanut butter
6 cups Rice Krispies
2 cups mini chocolate chips, divided
Line a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with foil. Lightly spray the foil with vegetable spray.
Mix sugar and corn syrup in 3 quart sauce pan until mixture boils.
Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter; mix well until melted.
Add Rice Krispies, stirring until all are coated.
Add 1 cup of mini chocolate chips and stir to distribute throughout. (Don't worry if they melt).
Press into pan. Sprinkle remaining cup of chocolate chips over the top and press down slightly.
Cool. Lift foil out of pan and cut into squares.
I have found a pizza cutter works great for cutting them.

Reading your question, it sounds like you want to make the actual cereal...not the rice krispy treats. If that's the fact, you can't make the puffed rice cereal w/o the proper high tech machines.
