Those who choose ODL, either dont know the fight game, or are too young to have seen Ray L fight. No contest.
Superior hand speed by Leonard and just as much power.Quick fighters give ODL fits. Ray in a 7th or 8th round
TO.

In truth I couldn't see either Ray or Oscar beating the likes of Hearns, Hagler or Duran. But Ray beat all three, and that will forever be a lable of super star status for Ray Leonard, whether you agreed with his style of boxing or hated it.
I like Oscar, he is a warrior who through away a victory over similar competition (Tito Trinadad) by trying to run against the type of slugger Ray seemed to dominate.
I never liked Ray Leonard's style, and have a hard time even now watching his fights with Hearns, Duran & Hagler, but you have to give Ray his due. Of the four super stars of his era, he was the most successful. Leonard's peak career proved that speed kills even the giants of the sport.
Ray Leonard by decision, should Oscar try and box, and a much faster version of the first Hearns fight should Oscar try and slug. Either way, Ray wins.

Oscar De La Hoya
Well Oscar has beaten Roberto Duran and Hector "Macho" Camacho both who have wins over Sugar Ray Leonard. Infact in the fight after Camacho TKO'd Leonard in the 5th round (March 1, 1997) he took a fight with Oscar (Sept 13, 1997) and lost via unanimous decision the judges score cards not even close. Styles make fights and this doesn't necessarily unequivacilly mean Oscar would win but it is most likely. Both are good fighters but I think Oscar would have the edge.

I watched them both fight and yeah, not even close. Sugar Ray would torture Oscar for about 7-8 rounds before taking him out. Oscar is good but he fought a lot of smaller guys and guys past their primes. Good management maybe but not the strategy to build a reputation on. Oscar never fought a beast like Hagler. He'd get destroyed. Look what happened when he fought Hopkins (who was about 38 or so!). yeah, DLH would not have done so well in the 80s against Hearns Duran or Hagler.

leonard at his prime and thruout his career beat all the best the divisions around him had to offer, cant even see oscar beating hearns much less hagler...leonard adapted to whatever fighter he fought, from duran to hagler, to benitez, he stayed far too long in the ring letting hearns, camacho and others catch up to him...but at his best he was great and is just the kind of fighter that always gave oscar fits, does anyone really remember him losing those fights to mosely...no contest...just got his ears boxed off by a guy with superior speed and boxing skills...just like may 5th...

THE FIRST QUESTION IS COULD ANY OF TODAY'S FIGHTERS GO 15 RDS.
OSCAR WAS A NATURAL SUPER FEATHER WT. LEONARD WAS A NATURAL WELTER WT. IN THIS BOUT, WHICH COULD BE A GOOD ONE, I HAVE LEONARD WINNING IN A 13 RD KO OR A 15 RD UNANIMOUS DECISION WITH OSCAR BARELY HOLDING ON AT THE END TO AVOID A KO.

sugar ray in an old school 15 round fight by decision. De la Hoya would put up a good fight though. it would also depend on who was training de la hoya. throughout his career he`s had some trainers that have sucked.
