I understand evil cats. I had a cat that hated me. He once crawled up on my chest and peed. At least your cat does not pee on you. But your cat will probably calm down after you get him fixed.

I received a 1 year old black cat that had been tormented for all of the 1st year of his life. I took him in and for the first few days I was throughly mauled. So I just left him entirely alone for 3 weeks to let him find his own place in the house. It has been 3 months and now I can let him out and he comes most of the (if he can hear me) time. He will come over to me to be petted and I can pet him while he is sleeping. I can also now pick him up most of the time. He rarely snaps at me now. And I want to tell you--it almost took more patience than I had. I don't believe that he will ever be a lap cat and I hope to find him a home with a single man and no other pets. (After a year of being tomented by a mean 5 year old, his owner threw him out in the snow with no food or shelter. He was rescued by someone who is in the same recycle group as I so I took him.) The humane society here in Wichita would have immediately put him to sleep. Now he has a life. Just have a whole lot of patience with him and eventually he will come around like my Oliver. He has found out that there really is love in the world. I named him Oliver AKA son of Lucifer if that tells you anything. LOL And Yes!! He is better since I had him neutered.

First, know that it's totally normal for a 1-year-old cat to attack ALL the time...he's still a kitten!
Second, neutering him should help, but it's hard to tell how much until it's done. Either way, you should neuter him to prevent any unwanted kittens around. Also, this will prevent him from wanting to "mark" his territory.
Third, he kept indoors? It could be that he's bored and/or wants your attention. I have a male cat who's 4 now, and when he was a kitten we wouldn't let him out because he wasn't neutered. He tore my house apart! I'm talking curtains down, bed spread & pillows off, he'd even poop in the bathtub! Turns out, he just had so much energy and not enough space. At 6 months we immediately got him neutered and began letting him out (we leash trained him for about 4 months before getting him neutered). He immediately became more tame and now he's an amazing cat. Turns out he just needed a larger world to discover and play in.
My advice...get him neutered and reflect on what environment he's in. Also, determine if he's angry or bored. If he's indoors only, consider getting him some stimulating toys (ones that involve stalking & using his instincts) & spend more time playing with him. Maybe even play his own game...when he runs at you, jump back at him! My cat used to play hide and seek with us (before we started letting him out) and the game was over when he said it was and would usually end with him & I falling asleep on the couch.

neutering may help calm him but you never know, just make sure the cat knows that you will never hurt him and maybe he'll get around... He could just be being territorial, in that case neutering would help a lot.

Neutered him, he will change but I think he might be angry for some reason, I had a cat whom used to attack me when she was outside and I called her to go inside, or when I didn't allow her to stay in my bed all night long. If you afford to pay, you can call to an animal communicator.... it is funny but I tried it once and I worked.

Get him fixed by all means he is probably smelling a female in heat and he is reacting naturally. Our male cat was a new child after he lost his jewels, it was actually nice to have him around, it might also be that he is getting to much catnip, my other cat gets mean on catnip like an old drunk. good luck.

You should get him neutered anyways. But yes, it may calm him down. He's likely just trying to play with you.

It could be that you've done something in the past has scared him and this is his way of getting back. If he's adopted maybe he was mistreated. Also look at medical problem. Something could be bothering him and it's his way of telling you something is wrong with him and he doesn't know what or why it happening.

Neutering might help. Get yourself a water bottle and give him a squirt when he attacks.
