"When I was still a slave (or servant), we were living in the town of Brindisi".
"habitabamus" is imperfect tense and it can't be translated as "we lived" of previous answer.
"We lived" is in Latin 'habitavimus' (Perfect tense).

Are you certain you've copied this precisely from the unique? Mis-copying is very almost consistently the reason of a few thing being confusing to appreciate. There are 2 different words which aren't from now on Latin both: 'ler' and 'lui'.
