Earlier, I asked a question about attending UIC. I'm a L.A. student and I want to attend UIC, but I would like to go to a community college first for two years and than transfer there. However, someone state that I should become a resident of illinois first before transfering. How do I do that?

Thanks.

A. Find a place to live in Illinois.
B. Go to the Post Office and fill out a change of address form.
C. Get an Illinois Drivers and Car license.
D. Get all your other papers, etc. changed to your Illinois address.
. . . and that's it! You're an Illinois resident!
(System works equally well for the other 49 states, too.)

I would check what your school defines it as. I believe that the number of years varies from different schools. You must live in Illinois for that amount of time at an established residence.

I think the the school I went to required two years or residency before becoming a resident.

You get a job and pay taxes in that state.

You rent an apartment and have a valid mailing address in that state for at least 6 months.

You do both of the above and get an Illinois Driver's License.

Move there, establish a residence by registering to vote, getting a home phone number not cell, register your car. These things pretty much make you a resident of that state.

Some state educational facilities require that you have lived in that state X(a variable) amount of time!

A resident means you have lived in the state for over one year. At least for financial declaration and in-state tuition rates. You just move to that state.

depends on the State.
Sometimes you have to live 90 days up to 6 months sometimes to become resident of that place...
By the way you have to find out about the COUNTY that is something that you have to check it to.
