In general terms drinking more than 14 drinks per week is considered excessive (for a male) but to be alcoholic there also needs to be an impact on your daily living: missed work, DUI, taking an upper in the morning, relationship problems over drinking issues, etc. There are levels in between that constitute problems as well. A female can run into problems drinking half that amount.

It's not a question of quantity. The question is, do you control your drinking or does it control you?
If you experience behavior changes, if alchohol intereferes with your health and/or relationships, and/or if you can't stop, it's time to consider that you may need help.
On the other hand, some people drink regularly (and moderately) and have no addiction or problems at all.
There's nothing cool about being able to drink a lot. It just means you have nothing better to do with your time or money and want to see how much damage you can do to your brain and liver.

...the "question", the way it's worded cannot be answered...
Alcoholism is a personal affliction that comes upon the consumer of the alcohol... some can drink a-lot and not be effected... others, one-drink and they are in trouble... I'd say that "if" your life requires you to "drink" (don't hand me the Oh I can quit anytime B.S.) you've got a problem... you may not recognize it today...but it will "creep" up on your and "bite your life off"... Alcohol is a solvent... it dissolves things like wives, children, jobs, homes, friends, relationships. families body organs...brain-cells, liver etc.... (have a V8)

I have heard that a glass or two of wine or one mixed drink is considered okay per day. But three or more is harmful. Note that not drinking for 6 days then having 7 on the 7th day is not the same and that too is unhealthy

Technachally your an alchaholich if you have a constant Blood alchahol content of over 0 some alchaholics have been known to feel sober at a blood alchahold content (BAC) of .3 which is close to dead for most people. alchahol adicition is where you PHYSICALLY need alchahold to live. your body has evolved to accept the alchol and uses it to function. Withdrawl from alchahol is one of the only witdrawls that can kill you because your body needs it to live... drink, have fun, but remember your responsabilitys
