Yesterday i saw my neighbors kids, around 7-8 outside flying a kite in the street. Overhead powerlines everywhere. I started to say something but their mom was sitting in the yard on her phone yacking away-not even paying attention to the kids. I didnt want to disturb her important call.
Is flying a kite near powerlines dangerous?

No it's not ok. It's dangerous. Besides if lightning hits the power line it can transfer down to the kite and electrocute the child. I'd tell your neighbor to watch their kid more.

Um, I would think that it would be very dangerous. Where I live they post signs at parks with power lines advising people not to fly kites there. My advice would be to next time interrupt her "important" call and let her know that her kids are in danger.

God yes! That Mom needs a slap in the face so she can get her act together. Next time you see them doing it just say something. You wouldn't feel to great if they got hurt or killed. Some parents take things to personally, but if you see something that dangerous forget about what irrational/defensive reaction they may have and get those kids out of harms way!

That Mother is not to smart, or was too busy yapping on the phone. It is not wise to fly kites near power lines. Next time call your local police.

I would think it's dangerous but call the power company and ask them.
