I'm an American citizen married to an Egyptian national. We are expecting our first child and we plan on giving the baby dual citizenship. My husband just heard and even I doubt this but thought I should ask if anyone would know about this. Would the American government deny my son American nationality if we name him Mohamed? I know this question sounds kinda out of there but just wanted to know. Stranger things have happened. Like they said here that corn flakes causes cancer.

What everyone else has said is true: the US government will not care if you name your child Mohamed, Max, or Little Mary Sunshine. Just make sure you register him as soon as you can.

Corn flakes do that?

The citizenship of the parents is the citizenship of the child. Thus, your child could be an American and Egyptian citizen at the same time in correlation with the respective laws of the countries governing the parents.

Your son will be American through you and Egyptian through his Dad. Your son cannot be denied US citizenship.
Register the child at the US Embassy and get the child a social security number and a passport immediately.

We do not discriminate on names in the US

You can name it anything you like. Just be sure to report the birth to the US embassy and fill out the forms. About two weeks after you submit everything you'll get an American passport and Social Security Card for the kid.
