I am trying to install a car receiver in our backyard summer kitchen. How do I convert 110V AC to the 12V DC the receiver needs?

Go to Radio Shack and get a 12 V dc power supply , some have a swithc to select the desire voltage.

The best way is to get a 12-volt power supply that can plug into your AC outlet. If all you're running is a CD deck, then a 7-10 amp power supply should work well.

you will not need an inverter, you will simply need a power supply. an inverter changes current from dc to ac, while a power supply switches from ac to dc and creates a proper amperage as well

you have to buy a transformer or a dc inverter. or you could just put a small 12 volt lawnmower battery with a trickle charger hooked to it
