Heck yeah!
7mp, Image Stabilized, 5x zoom, etc are great features for the money.

Canon is only one of many good digital camera makers, especially in the compact area. Fuji, Sony, Canon, Nikon, Olympus ALL make good cameras, each one with it's own strength's and weaknesses.

You made a good choice.

For less than $240 the L5 is feature laden. It has image stabilization and a 5x zoom. That's a lot for that price.

The closest thing from Canon would probably be the newly announced A570IS. It's got the same number of pixels on the same size ccd. it also has image stab, but only has a 4x zoom. But- you do get the top notch Canon image processing- which does seem to get the most out of the image. However- this camera is about $50 more. Canons are great cameras- but they do get a bit extra for their name. So- they are not always the best 'value'.

Or- you could have gone for the Panasonic LZ7. it has an even bigger zoom (6x), the same 7Mpix and IS too. For actually quite a bit less, about $190.

There are a lot of cameras out there. you didn't make a wrong choice- but of course there are other choices.

Remember- it's not the camera that takes the picture... it's the photographer. I've seen too many beautiful photographs taken by Holgas (cheap chinese made film cameras that vignette and leak light) to believe otherwise.

the only thing i would be worried about is the lens malfunctioning. i work in a photo lab and around christmas we had the L3 and had over half of them returned because the lens mechanism just died. now we have the L11 and guess what, two of them have been returned for the same problem. nikon makes great stuff and your L5 will take great shots, just keep the receipt!
