It is the Way into the presence of the Living God.
This was typified in the Tabernacle.
The Way speaks of the Outer Court, with the altar of sacrifice, which corresponds to the cross, and the laver, which corresponds to the Word of God, the Scriptures.
This Way leads into the Holy place which corresponds to the Truth, and speaks of the enlightened soul, with the lampstand (intellect),
table of showbread (will), and the golden altar of incense (emotion).
The incense of the the golden altar gives entrance through the offering of incense and the blood of sacrifice into the Holy of Holies, the very presence of the Living God, and speaks of the Life, the uncreated Life of God.
This is the goal and end of the quest - the very life of God Himself.
Just as there was only one approach into the presence of God under the Old Covenant, so there is only One approach in the New Covenant.

Just before he said that, he said that he is the truth and the life, so he was impersonating those things, which means that the way to the father is not Jesus (as the Christians claim) but rather the things Jesus was impersonating (truth & life). The whole Jesus thing is a personification, Jesus himself was not important to the first Christians, he was a personification and he probably didn’t exist. Read some of Paul’s letters and you’ll see that Paul wasn’t interested in a literal historical Jesus, and that was correct and anything else is "another gospel".

It is the way of the cross. Jesus died to pay the price for all sin. Something we could not possibly do for ourselves because the life required for that sacrifice needed to be perfect and we are far from that. But Jesus, being God in the flesh, was that perfect sacrifice. Because of that, if we have accepted Him as Redeemer and Lord, when we want access to the throne of God, to come before the Father, He no longer sees the sin that separated us from Him but now sees the blood of Christ covering them and accepts us without question.

Outside of that, there is no acceptable way to heaven. Many other religious accept Jesus as someone holy and special, but Jesus acknowledged no one else as worthy to seek out.

When you are God, you are right. That is just the way it is.

BTW, There is no power that we can find from within ourselves. If you open yourself up to anything then just about anything is going to jump in there. Anything but Jesus is a bad thing.
Jesus warns us not to try to be strong in ourselves but to find our strength in Him. He also tells us to 'Seek you first the Kingdom of God and everything else you need will be given to you.' That includes wisdom and knowledge. If you want those things get into the Word of God. Don't leave yourself open for foolishness.

When Jesus first began His preaching ministry, his message was summarized like this:
Mark 1:15
and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

The Way, is what the Christian faith was called before they were first called Christians at the city of Antioch.
Acts 11:26
" ... . And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians."
The Way is the rule of faith, which brings people into right relationship with God.
Romans 10:8-10
8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim);
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

By the way, ( pun intended ), Jesus was sent to earth to show us the way, that was God's reason for him to be. The "way" is a path of righteousness, where right and wrong are clear and obvious. If a person follows the way, he/she doesn't need much, if any guidance, because the way is self-explanatory.

we know that the only way to the Father is through the Son. IN accepting the Son as your Saviour - you accfept the ablity to try your hardest to live a righteous life - one that if Jesus was standing next to you you would be okay. you also garner the ability to seek forgiveness upon repentance of sins and shortcomings.

The "WAY" is simple.........accepting the GIFT of salvation through the grace and mercy of Jesus by his dying on the cross for our sins and rising the third day, defeating death, thus freeing us from death as well. All one needs to do is ask for forgiveness (and really mean it, God knows your heart) and ask Jesus to lead your life.

He was of course speaking as a JEW, not a 2000 years later Christian. His `way` was the promise of purifying and restoring the Temple, ejecting the Sons of Darkness ( Romans and their collaborators), and installing a Jewish priestly and Kingly authority. Only after Jewish autonomy could `Heaven` be established for `God`s own children`. A strictly cultic Jewish affair that ended in failure, but based strictly on Jewish dreams and desires, and NOT a magical future promise !

He means He is the only way to God inorder to know Him as Father and not just as an impersonal God.

I think he meant we should follow his example of non-discrimination, love, unity, etc. That is the way to become one with God like he did.

I don't know where people get that you have to believe in him to get "saved". I don't think you need to consider yourself a Christian to follow Jesus' example.
