I have a devotional/reading Bible, a HCSB with giant print, the jewel-verse reference system, and a sleek brown cover. It's very nice looking. I have a hardcover wide margin NIV that I'm having fun using (a wide margin NASB should be arriving soon) and a God's Story ESV that I take to church and also read/memorize from. I also have dozens of others, but those are my favorites.

Anyone else? (And if you're a KJV onlyist, please, please, go away, or read James White's book about it)

There's just one thing: the NIV omits those verses because of strong manuscript evidence---when you decide not to use it because of that, in essence, you're begging the question of whether they should be there or not.

Oh, and I've heard the same thing about the NASB. I have a couple of those too.

I used to read NIV until I found where they omitted scriptures in the text. It was in one of the gospels and I was reading aloud and was told that I skipped a verse. When you research the NIV, you can find a great deal of criticism about it from the KJV purists.

I now use the NASB as it is reported to be the most accurate.

Well, actually, I find that all the versions have errors in them. I prefer to read directly from the Greek and Hebew manusicripts. The Hebrew Greek Key Study Bible is a great Study Bible. But the fact that you do not wish to hear from KJV only-er's means that your mind is already made up and that you are pushing others totally away.

KJV ONLY!!!!!!

And for your "manuscript evidence":

The Textus Receptus(Received Text) agrees with 95% of manuscript evidence, and the "Vaticanus" (Corrupt Texts) and the "Siniaticus" agrees with only 5%....which do you think is better 95% or 5%?

And why don't you read a book about it! - Final Authority by Dr. William P. Grady

NRSV is best for me; exhaustive scholarship, and understandable. Gender-neutral, yet specific when it comes to real people.
I use Oxford Annotated, and read the cross-references as well as the footnotes.
NIV is good for young people. Have given it as gifts to my neice etc.

Psalm 23: 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. And Xforeverweasley, the verse is Luke 23:34
