First off your premise is false. What proof beyond your own feelings do you have that cars "are destroying our environment"?

Second, even if your premise is correct this is still a country where freedom from busybodies such as yourself is still allowed.

You may not be alone but you have very few friends. The two are not comparable at all. Cars are very useful devices that we really do need. Cigarettes are just drug delivery devices that really have no socially redeeming value.

And cars are NOT the major cause of global warming, even though that is what most people on this forum seem to seize on. Coal fired power plants are a major source. I would think trucks, trains, buses, airplanes and ships are major contributors too. Do you want to bad airline ads? Cruise ship ads? Are you a communist? Do you want to kill all non-believers? That is the kind of attitude I see from you. You feel you are right beyond any chance of being wrong and so want to force the whole world to do it your way. This is what the Khmer Rouge did; they killed people who refused to give up their city homes and grow rice by hand like the they should have!

I guess it boils down to needs and perception.

Transport is very much needed, we couldn't live out lives the way we do without it. Cigarettes can be banned altogether and it won't fundementally alter society.

Also, everything that's manufactured is in some way responsible for contributing to environmental problems.

You could also argue that all plastic products should be banned because they don't biodegrade.

It's a case of drawing the line somewhere.

Right, but my bet is that you live in a country where there are no good alternatives to cars if you don´t live in a city, right ?

And we can solve the global warming problem a lot without beeing too disruptive to the people´s lifestyle.

Actually from what I have seen, trying to turn all people to hippie-dark-green in contraproductive. Measures need to be
Strong
Measurable
Ambitious but not too disruptive
Acceptable
Scheduled
Inexpensive

Proud mom and dad of honor pupils, honkers for Jesus, troop supporters, gun supporters etc. etc. might there be any room left for paid advertising?

EXCELLENT QUESTION!!! But let me exemplarate on this. If the advertising time were doled out by the cars environmental rating, do you think the car manufacturers would then have a reason to make them more Eco-friendly???

So do you walk everywhere you go now and are you willing to turn off your computer and TV for good, and throw away your cell phone and iPod to save energy and cause less green house gas?
