I have heard so many Christians say "You're going to hell!" "God hates you!" "That's a sin!" At every school I've been to, they discriminate and treat gays like lepers. I mean, not all Christians are like that, just 99% of the ones I know!!

If a christian said that to you, they are 100% wrong. God doesn't hate anyone. Christians shouldn't ostracize gays, but in the bible it says being gay is a sin. But christians sin too, so we should not judge. Don't think all christians are like that because we are not.

I'm sincerely sorry that you've been confronted with such judgmental Christians. As a Christian I struggled with how to deal with the gay issue. Coming from an old Southern Christian family, I hear a lot of the comments you mentioned. However, I also know that Jesus says "to love others as yourself." Was I supposed to hate gay people because of their choices? I finally figured out you love the person and not their actions/choices. While the Bible does teach that homosexuality is a sin, that doesn't give anybody the right to ostracize a gay person and to put them down. How does that help anyone? I hope you understand that not all Chrisitans share the same opinions and that there are those of us who truly wish to practice the ministry of love that Jesus teaches.

I'd like to answer your question by reminding you of the story about the time God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah,(a well known town in the Bible where homosexuality was rampant).
Abraham asked God if he would destroy it if he found 50 righteous. God told him he wouldn't destroy it.if he found 50 righteous. Abraham finally talked God into saving the town if he found even 10 righteous. This shows me God's real heart towards the homosexual. Gods desire is to heal them and show them love not destroy them. I see homosexuality as sin but on a more perverted level. They are human beings in need of God's help and love and a Christians love and help.
The story of Sodom and Gommorah shows just how depraved these people had gotten. They wanted to have sex with the angels God had sent to protect Lot and his family. They were full of lust and it burned within them. They can never be satisfied. That's why they wanted to be with the angels (it was something different), maybe that would satisfy their need. If they would have turned to God he wouldn't have destroyed that city.
God is about restoring no destroying. God lifts us up when everyone else puts us down. If a Christian is putting someone down then they can't call themselves that. A Christian is suppose to be Christ-like. I can't imagine Jesus doing any of these things.

You are hanging around too many impostors.
The homosexual today was like the Samaritan of Jesus' day (only more so). The Jewish traveler would go 150 miles out of their way to avoid walking though Samaria. The disciples were awestruck to find Jesus talking to a Samaritan woman (two strikes there). So how did Jesus treat her?
Next time you see these "Christians" ask them what it says in 1 Corinthians 5:11-13. See if anyone has even heard of it.
The only homosexuals the Christian is told to shun* (not insult, just not fellowship with) are those who continue in the practice, and call themselves a Christian.

Since God, speaking through the inspired prophets authoring the books of the bible, declared homosexuality a sin, then it is a sin.
See: Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9,10; 1 Timothy 1:10.
Thus, homosexuality is just one of a litany of the decay of the perfect moral state found in original creation.
As all sinners, homosexuals can be true Christians. As far as God views sin, homosexuality is no greater or lesser than other sins. All sin is objectionable to God. Since homosexuality is often practiced openly ("in your face"), the reaction by some who have wandered off the “love thy neighbor” reservation is over the top. It may also be the case that anyone that seems to revel in their sin seems disingenuous if they are a self-professed Christian. I believe that the true Christian homosexual struggles daily with their sinful nature.

But not all Christians ostracize gays, of course. The Episcopal Church, Unitarian Universalists, Metropolitan Community Churches, Unity and many other denominations are quite gay-friendly. Ostracize gays? Many of these groups choose to ordain them, instead.

Christians see sin as sin. If you are trying to push a sinful lifestyle into a congregation that plays by the rules then you are asking for trouble.
Do people go around buddy buddy with Jeffrey Dalmer and say it's okay that you keep killing people and putting them in your refrigerator? That's like having a murderers for Jesus fellowship.
Romans 16:17 "...Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people's faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them. Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests."
So to go to people who believe in avoiding sin and especially a sinful lifestyle and want them to tolerate your sinful lifestyle is stupid. It's a whole different matter if you have turned away from that lifestyle and are sincerely pursing godliness.

REAL christians do not say those things. REAL christians will show them what GOD says about those things. REAL christians will pray for them to repent of those things. REAL christians encourage those in sin to turn from their sins. REAL christians will show people the consequence if they refuse to repent of their sins. REAL christians have heavy hearts for those who choose to remain in their sin rather than change.
I do believe you said that you are still in school...so I take it you are a teenager. Children can be mean...and so can some adults. Mean children learn to be mean by following wrong ADULT examples.
To LIVE the sodomite lifestyle is a choice....and they can choose to repent.
I'm sorry you have been exposed to those who pretend to be Christians.

Christians still aren't free from sin. We are told to hate what is evil and love what is good (might not be the exact quote). homosexuality is an evil device created by man. I don't hate gays, just homosexuality (the evil they practice), but i dislike them for the evil they demonstrate.

God never said He didn't love all of man kind, for He created us all. But, he does hate sin of all kind.
Christians should love all of man the same way Jesus did when He ate supper with the politicians and prostitutes. You attract more flies with honey than vinegar. A christian should live by example so all the world will see Jesus.
