Do you believe God can change the sexual desires of a person? Say, turn a homosexual into a heterosexual?

If you accept that He exists, and believe in the powers traditionally ascribed to Him, then you'd have to conclude that He could.

He sure doesn't seem to ever actually do that, though.

That is a very good question. It brings us to the nature or nurture question. If you believe that sexual preference is all in the biology then you would argue against God having anything to do with it. If you believe that sexual preference is all in the nurture, the environment, the upbringing then you would argue that God might have something to do with it. Scientists believe that sexual preference is a result of both biology and environment. Look at twins that were separated at birth and are both homosexual as an example.
BUT, you are asking if God can change someone. I don't think that a person can change their natural, innate drive. They could go to church, believe that homosexuality is wrong (which I do not think it is...it exists in nature: giraffes couple with same sex partners) and then try to suppress their needs or desires. But no, I do not think that God has a hand in choosing a person's sexual orientation: it is all in the genes.

yes I do believe God can turn a homosexual into a heterosexual. God says " He is able to do all things" (Quran)isnt that a wonderful thing to know about The Creator? But God also says that "Never will he change the condition of a people until they change what is in their heart's" (Quran) God also says " Oh mankind, now has come to you a book where there is Guidance and mercy for the diseases that are in your hearts" (Quran) Homosexuality, Pedophiling, Fornication, Stealing and Depression and low self esteem are all diseases of the heart (the spiritual heart) just to name a few.
God also says " tell my servants that I am indeed close to them when they call on me" (Quran). "I hear the call of every supplicant when they call upon me, and let them also with a response hear my call upon them to a path which Guides aright" (Quran). My dear im so sorry for not giving you the verses where to find these quotes from The most High, but if you recite The holy quran yourself you will run across these verses. Plus knowing that God is able to do all things is a great stress reliever when i have an overwhelming burden on my back . " with every dificulty there is relief, verily with every difficulty there is relief" God's words in The Holy Quran. I do remember that verse being towards the end of the book. My darling Never ever take the advice of an atheist because they are not rightly guided. Recite The holy quran and The holy bible on a daily basis for strength and god will grant you all of what you wish for.PEACE

Of course not, since God makes people either LGBT or straight. This does not change after birth and is not a "choice." Neither sexual orientation is more "right" than the other, just like no eye color or handed-ness is more "right" or "moral" than the other.

Humans vary. Orientation is just one of those variations. This is what science has found, vs. opinion.

Why would anyone want to try to change someone's God-given true nature? Why would such a person defame one of God's children or God's gifts? Certainly such a person could never call themselves a "christian."

Please don't confuse sexual behavior with orientation. If you can believe it, some LGBT people get sent to torture "conversion" camps. This does nothing to change their orientation, but may torture them into stopping or starting one type of sexual behavior.
Most often, all this torture does is induce trauma. Orientation is not changed one iota. Again, science has shown this.

I'm hoping that we can all support our brothers and sisters here on earth, all God's children, who differ from each other in many ways. Then we will truly be following Jesus' teachings, won't we?

Yes. Homosexuality is a device of man created when the Lord released man to his own sinful nature. I believe that homosexuals made themselves that way and if they truly wish to return to heterosexuality, they need only prayer and Faith in God Almighty.

I believe that God allows hermaphrodites to be born...those are people with ambiguous genitalia (you can't tell if they are genetically male or female without a chromosomal test). He allows people with unique sex chromosome combos to be born (people with extra X's and Y's all over the place). So why on earth wouldn't he create people who are attracted to the same sex?

NO!!!! God has nothing to do with homosexuality. People are either born like this or its a choice. Whose to say what is right and what is wrong. Living with oneself is what makes someone change who or what he or she is. I say be happy and live life.

I believe you are the way you are born for a reason. Though I am a christian and believe homosexuality is a sin, but I have seen this subject many times and believe if you have faith anything is possible.

To be honest, no. I don't want to get into a big hassle here, but I do not believe in gay marriage. God intented for man and woman to continue the human race. If he wanted to change it, he would have already.

No, I think people are born either homosexual or heterosexual and all the prayers in the world won't change that.
