The third eye is one of the major chakra points (chakra, so I found out is pronounced chuk-rah). I is located between the crown chakra and the throat chakra, and is most commonly represented as being above our physical eyes, approximately in the middle of our forehead.
It is believed that when you focus your sight through your third eye you are able to see things connected to the astral and mental planes of existence (the two planes above the physical which both interpenetrate the physical) and percieve things like auras.
I have had limited success with this myself, however I think that's mainly to do with my lack of discipline.
Hope that helped.

The "third eye" is actually a circuit connector that's formed when one uses both sides of their brains effectively. Few use the right so few comprehend the third eye.

As more humans develop empathy and draw away from some misbeliefs of old religions, more knowledge on how our perception of our world has been what has driven evolution.

It's centered behind your two eyes you do have now. You can improve it's capabilities by simply imaging a purple size egg or light in that area. Really "see/picture" it in your mind. That will help you develop the eye.

"The third eye is a metaphysical and esoteric concept referring in part to the ajna (brow) chakra in certain eastern and western spiritual traditions. In New Age spirituality, the third eye may alternately symbolize a state of enlightenment or the evocation of mental images having deeply-personal spiritual or psychological significance. The third eye is often associated with visions, clairvoyance, precognition, and out-of-body experiences, and people who have allegedly developed the capacity to use their third eyes are sometimes known as seers."

The third eye is the eye you would use to see the spiritual bits of life. It is located between and just above your other eyes.

The third eye describes your latent psychic ability to see things others cannot (ghosts, auras, etc.). That's what it is, essentially. It's position is right in the middle of your forehead. In Hindu tradition, it's marked with a red dot when they get married.

It's hard to explain so I'm just going to quote the text:

"The third eye, also known as the 'brown eye' is able to be seen only when its owner removes all clothing and touches his toes."

The reason it's hard to find is you can't see it yourself, you have to ask a friend (good friend) or get a mirror.

You have to start at your naval, I believe and there are five points of chakra and you have to measure them out equidistant from your naval and the very center of your forehead. There are a lot of books on the subject.
