I live in Canada and there is great interest here in banning plastic shopping bags, which is ok, however, those bags are what I use to clean my cat's litter box and what dog owners use to clean up after their dogs.
So, what is the alternative that Europeans are using?
We can't very well switch to cat litter that can be flushed because that will eventually destroy the septic system.
Any Europeans out there who would like to respond to this query?

no idea we still use plastic bags..

you csan get plastic bags that are bio-degradeable .. they look like plastic bags but are made from sea weed.. only trouble is isthat they desolve in water..so no good with litter trays and doggy pooh.

Well, I'm in the US, but I don't use plastic bags to clean litter boxes. I think the brown paper bags you get at the supermarket are perfect for changing the litter and always use those.

Well I don't even use a bag for my cat litter...I empty it and scrub it every single time, its good to do that. It may come with a little work but come on people how lazy can you get. You wanted a pet so you should take care of it. I live in Canada as well.

If you can still get plastic kitchen trash can liners (the smaller white ones) you might just have to do that.

Or, if you get your litter in the big paper sacks , maybe you could pour the litter into a large pail and reuse the paper bag. Unfortunately it will be heavy. Good luck.
