Read the label and make sure the drops are appropriate for the size of your dog. Maybe call the vet and ask if you can try and wash off the stuff. That is what I would do.
Do not ever buy HARTZ flea drops again. For one thing they don't work. Go to your vet and get Frontline. Do not buy him a flea collar from HARTZ because those are just as bad.

Per my vets recommendations concerning my dog & hartz flea drops. Bathe the dog immediately with Dawn dish washing soap, rinse & repeat!!!! It may not affect your dog,but don't take the chance. My dog (1 out of 4 dogs) had a serious reaction and it took a week or so before she began to show signs. Thank God I was home. I posted a warning on here about a week ago regarding Hartz. Go to hartz victims.org and see for yourself. I hope your puppy will be fine!!!! Many dogs & cats have had very serious reaction, including death!!!! Bathe your puppy ASAP!!!

Hartz products are just as dangerous now as they were a year or so ago. Many pets die every year from them and many others become ill or get serious burns and other skin reactions.
I would give him a good bath to wash as much off as you possibly can and do NOT use ANY OTC flea product again.

Give him a bath and wash it off. HARTZ products are terrible. The flea and tick drops are very caustic. It can damage the skin and hair follicles of your dog. I wouldn't leave it on any longer, just to be on the safe side.

I'm sure he'll be fine, but I'm also sure he'll still have fleas. Hartz doesn't work worth beans. The only flea treatments I've found that work are the expensive ones... Advantage, Frontline, Revolution, etc. The storebought stuff is crap - and can cause problems in some animals... but any flea treatment can do that. Think about it. You're putting a pesticide on your pet. There's no pesticide that's 100% safe.

i'd never suggest hartz for any animal that is the cheapest thing out there. 1800petmeds.com you can buy frontline, and advantage...they cost a little more but they are safe and effective. i don't think you're dog is going to die but just keep an eye out on him. if you see any changes in behavior, eating/sleeping habit, have him checked by a vet.
