Someone told me that when you add something to water (for example; Crystal Light) that you loose the value and it doesn't "count" as drinking water. Do you know if this is true? & If so...do you have any tips for getting down as much "water" as possible?

I think what that person meant was that if you are drinking water as a cleansing liquid (which everyone is.. .thats what water does - hydrate & flush toxins out of your body) the crystal light is just more toxins and chemicals being put into your body. It's true, that stuff isn't very good for you. I like it too, though! And it is really hard to drink enough water if you just get bored with it, but the best thing to do is to just think of it as purifying and cleansing you, just drink for your health and not the taste. Drinking water does so many things on its own that it is kind of counterproductive to drink chemical sweeteners with it. What I did was I put a little 100% lemon juice in my water, which at least gave it a taste and the lemons are a detoxing agent. You get over the taste once you notice the health benefits.

Sort of but not really. You don't lose the value but you do lose the chances of getting hydrated from regular drinking water. Think about it, what happens when you drink sea water...you get more dehydrated due to salt solution concentrations being more than your normal watersalt ratio. If there is more salinity, then your body will try to get rid of it and there you lose precious body water because it is trying to get rid of excess salts. Coke is another solution that can dehydrate you but not as bad as sea water. You still have good value and some nutrition. If you were out at sea, coke is a good thing to have...in a way. Now if you add lemon crystal lite, then yes you will get thirsty more often. Your body is wanting more water because it is becoming defficient from its own water source because you have increased salinity. If you look at everyones answers about how they drink more water by adding lemons or other things...there it is showing that they are not drinking more for their benefit, it is because their bodies are lacking water and the person keeps on making the bad choice of adding other things...There is nothing wrong with drinking a soda every now and then and drinking crystal lite with water... It is safe and is ok...but it that is the only way that you are getting water, then that is not safe and you need to start to incorporate drinking regular water in your diet to keep you hydrated.

This is true since water is needed to flush out the kidneys and the blood. For example, if you wanted to clean a glass filled with Kool Aid would you use more cool aid to clean it with or water to wash away the cool aid? You cant' clean some dirty with something else dirty in other words. Foods that contain food coloring such as Fruity Pebbles cereal, Kool Aid, Crystal Light are the worse things to take into your body because the kidneys have to filter all the food coloring(dye) out of the blood. But then you need pure clean water to flush out the kidney so they don't become overwhelmed sort of speak. Food coloring is just something that the kindeys will have to work to filter out of the blood. They are similar to the tonsils. Getting tonsilitis is proof that your tonsils are doing their job, trapping and filtering bacteria, pollen, dust etc. that goes through the mouth, nose and throat. However, they can get filled like an overflowing trash can and become infected themselves because they are holding too much gargage. A good way to releive that is to gargle with diluted vinegar(NOT SALT WATER). Vinegar is a natural astringent and draws out mucus from the membranes to include the bacteria causing the throat infection. It works faster and is safer than taking antibiotics which may cause allergic reactions.

water stays water even with flavor added. I drink lots more water since I started to add powdered flavors. even tea, coffee, and diet sodas count toward your hydration, but they're not as good as water.

It still does count as water, because you're just adding alil powder to it.

But things like diet soda (which have water) dont count
