Don't take a iron pill without permission from your obgyn first. also, a prenatal has iron in it too much will make you sick. always talk to your doctor first before taking any medicine.

As long as your taking your prenatal vitamins and the doctor sees no reason why you need to take iron pills then I don't think you need to. It might be a good idea to take some other kind of vitamin, since the baby pulls all that good stuff from you. I had 0 cavaties before I was pregnant, brushed my teeth like always and after I gave birth I had 3 cavaties.

DO NOT take an iron pill unless your doctor tells you to. Its easy to have TOO MUCH iron in your system. My doc told me at around 30 weeks after a blood test that I was "a little bit anemic" and told me to get a specific MG iron pill.

If your doc thinks you need the extra iron, then yeah, you do. Are you anemic? That would be the biggest reason for having an additional iron pill outside of the normal birth control.

Dr.'s do recommend it, however, I had morning sickness throughout my whole 2ND pregnancy and couldn't keep hardly anything down. Unfortunately, I stayed so sick the little weight I had gained was lost by the time I was in my 8th month. FORTUNATELY, I had a very healthy baby boy. He still is healthy at 11yrs, he's rarely sick. The prenatal plus might have enough iron in it, too much isn't good either.
