You're not the most adventurous person in the world, are you?
Look out of your window and take a look at all the people. Chances are that nearly every single adult you can see has flown at sometime or other. They managed it - so I expect you can too.
For the first 10 minutes it will be fun or scary - all depending what you are like. Then it will start to wear off and within half an hour you'll be watching a film or listening to the radio on your headphones and wondering how long it will be before they serve dinner.
First time fliers all want to sit by the window so they can look out and see either the towns way down below them or the sun shining on the clouds. Believe me, after you have flown a few times the novelty wears off and it becomes a bit boring - especially the airports at both ends. It's a bit like being on the same bus every day on your way home from school. I bet you never look out the windows and just talk to your friends or read.

Hi Kelly..
The first time I flew, I flew from Detroit to Paris. Probably the scariest experience of my life - - just because I was not ready for the long flight at all! I have flown sooo many times since then, and I LOVE flying. If i can fly to a place instead of driving... I will fly. There are a few things you need to remember when you pack and also when you get to the airport.
--Don't forget your photo ID you will need it for sure.
--Don't over pack... most airlines have luggage restrictions -- i always over pack and end up with a huge 'heavy' tag hanging from my suitcase .. I think most airlines are like 50 pounds. You can check 2 bags and carry on one bag + 1 personal item
--Dont forget the 3-1-1 rule ... you can only take 3 oz liquids, that will fit in 1 quart sized plastic bag and only one per person. These are for liquids you are going to carry on the airline with you -- so if you are checking bags.. check it all!
--Get a window seat - since this is your first time, you are going to want to see everything. If I am flying to a city I have never been to before I make sure to get the window so you can see everything!
--If it is a long flight - bring something to do -- you will get bored sitting in a seat staring at the seat in front of you -- if you are going really far, the airline will probably play a movie, but to be safe, bring a book or a CD player to use.
--I would check out airport maps to see where you have to changeover too.. Houston is a pretty big airport, and it can be confusing. Especially if your layover is a short period of time.
--Don't worry about turbulance, I remember being terrified the first time I felt it.. you will be ok. Remember that millions of planes fly each day -- and you are totaly safe on them!
Enjoy flying - you will im sure. i love it. Good luck -- and have fun!!

(im from england so it might be a little different to USA) well when you arrive at the airport you check in and sort yourself out, then you can go into the terminal where all of the shops and resturaunts are. Normally you have to get there a bit early so you can have a good look. Its cool because it is duty free. After a while you can go to your plane. i always get really nervous before take off, and it feels really weird when your on the runway because you are going so fast, but it is really exciting at the same time. When you're in the air it is just really boring. You do get the occassional shudder and bit of turbulance, which is a bit scary but its not too bad. For me the most scary thing (this sound totally ridiculous) is the loos. They have this things of metal and it flaps and is really strange. (you sort of have too see it). Landing is my favourite part because you know that you have arrived and its the whole speed thing. Then you go through security which is sooo boring.
i think ive gone on long enough! lol
Hope you have a lovely trip.

do no longer difficulty, you're very secure and maintain in an airplane. Airplanes have been designed to flow through such distinctive distinctive issues, you will no longer have a project. The pilots besides have been knowledgeable to do such distinctive distinctive issues. they are additionally very experienced pilots to do commercial international flights. what to anticipate is a little extra sturdy to answer, it may substitute between flights. Takeoff would be incredibly delicate after which you will climb for a mutually as until it gets to its cruising altitude. Then it may actually be a mutually as, yet delicate, don't be taken aback in case you do hit some turbulence although, because it incredibly is not uncommon. And back, airplanes have been designed to have the potential to cope with it without project and distinctive do regular. Then once you start up your descent it will be comparable. anticipate slightly noise from the hydraulics that perform the flaps and the landing kit, it could make slightly noise, even though it incredibly is general. landing would be delicate, although they are able to be kinda tough, yet back, do no longer difficulty, the airplane will survive it no project. And interior the incredibly small hazard that the landing is in simple terms too tough for the airplane, which I easily have never heard of occurring, anybody will nonetheless make it off advantageous, it incredibly is going to easily be a splash jerk, a rougher provide up, and then they're going to rush truthfully anybody off. maximum emergencies would be like that. So in case you're up there in simple terms understand that there is an exceedingly small hazard that some thing will go incorrect with you flight, and if some thing does go incorrect all which will take place is issues will grow to be a splash extra rushed, and a splash rougher. i wish you have a relaxing time in Costa Rica!

Call the airlines at 2 days prior to the trip to confirm if the your flights would still fly as scheduled. Most airlines undergo periodic change in schedules due to technical reason (no pilot for the plane) or not enough passengers on the schedule. Can't be just you, the attendants and the pilot. Check in time is 1:45 minutes and (domestic). You need govt issued photo ID. Know where to check by asking the airlines, some tickets were issued by say AA but you will be checking in at a UA counter.

I spent over twenty years flying in all kinds of aircraft in all kinds of conditions. The safety of flying in any aircraft is far greater than any vehicle, especially the family car.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the view. I recommend that you get to the airport early, and look around at realize that all kinds of people fly everyday. Watch the airplanes out the window and get an feel for how they taxi and take off and land. I recommend a window seat if you like views and the ability to see what is going on. Some, however prefer the aisle and a good book in order to not know.
Just relax and take it easy and make it fun.

I remember my first time and I flew alone too. I had 4 different planes as I had layovers too. I was very nervous but after the first flight I was fine. Its kinda nerve racking but you should be fine. If you take a "dramamine" before hand you shouldn't have any motion sickness. And i would either bring some music or magazines to read as it gts kinda boring if u can't fall asleep!! Hope this helps! HAVE FUN!

familarize yourself with the maps of the airport in houston and also the map of wherever you're going, usually if you search the airport's name theyll give you a map and you can figure out how you have to get from this gate to that gate and vice versa...
bring a book or some music, its the easier way to pass the time by which makes ur trip a lot more calm...
