Our first wedding was a disaster for the most part. We are going to do a renewing the vows ceremony. I want to know if it can be just like a real wedding.....I mean big dress, lots of people, a cake...stuff like that. Is that ok? can you give me any ideas also?

I never had a real wedding so we did a vow renewal and had the ceremony then and yes I did the dress, cake and pretty much everything I wanted in a wedding. It is up to you how much you want to put into it. I will tell you this the ceremoney is shorter and traditionally it is a fairly informal affair.

Yeah that is okay but only after a year ? I realize your first may have been a disaster but couples consider renewing there vows around the 25yr mark!

But really if you want to make it more memorable and everything NO BOOZE! UNTIL WELL INTO THE RECEPTION AND AFTER THE TOASTS ARE MADE AND BOTH YOU AND THE HUBBY KEEP TO A 3 DRINK MINIMUM AND THAT DOES NOT MEAN 3 TRIPLES THAT MEANS LIKE A GLASS OF WINE, A BEER , AND MAYBE A SINGLE RUM AND COKE!

Most wedding disasters that I have seen involved too much booze, consumed before the actually ceremony and before the toasts have been made. This was really common with evening ceremony's or late afternoon. I would recommend
having the ceremony around 1:30-2:00 in the afternoon and then follow the reception at around 3:30-4:00 this will allow some time to get photos taken if your thinking of that. Then by the noraml drinking hours of 5:00 and onwards most things will have already been taken care of like toasts etc.

First of all I am happy for you, you have a fairytale come true.
I have some ideas.
If you live near a beach, have a beach wedding peach and Grey is lovely in that time of year. A somewhat chiffon simple dress, that can blow in the wind. Wear your hair up with peach flowers in it, you don't need shoes. It is also possible that the flower girls dress can be made like yours.
A wedding was also done in a forest setting.
Also there are many dresses that give you the Cinderella look, get some long gloves and a crown. Hey you are the queen for the day - go for it. All these things are very low cost.
Sorry I get too excited. Wish you well

Of course you can make it how ever you want it its your day after all. Why was your first wedding a disaster? But try and remember that getting married is about the commitment you are making to each other not about how big it all is. If your first one wasn't fun try and come up with little things that happen through the day that make it fun. Its hard to say as don't know you ask your friends for some ideas on what suits you and your partner. I hope you have a great day.

No, of course it can't be like a real wedding - you already had your wedding, however it went. Usually a vow renewal is done on the 25th anniversary, but some have it on the 10th anniversary these days.
A vow renewal is a blessing or ceremony done in a church or other location, you just wear dressy clothes, then after the ceremony you would have your family and close friends to your home for dinner after.

Why would you renew your vows after only a year??
isn't`t it too soon... why won`t prefer an anniversary party... a celebration and you could use a big dress but not a wedding dress more like Oscar`s Dress or something like that....

What a big waste of money!!! It's the marriage that counts not the ceremony!!! Get over your wedding day and use the money for something useful like new furniture or fun like a nice trip somewhere! I'm sure your husband would like that better than another stupid ceremony!

Its a waist of money. Love your man ,enjoy your life together and save your money for a great honeymoon.
If you do still want to renew your vows, you should specify no gifts since it was only last year that you received them for your first wedding.

A renewing of vows is usually done much later in life.
If you can afford it you can have what ever you want. don't ask someone else about what you want , just do it.
