Why do some Christians complain about being generalized, then go rip on Muslims?
The behavior of extremist groups in any religion or culture is usually equally negative. Why do people generalize Muslims when there are denominations of their own religion who commit acts that are equally extreme and harmful. For example: Christian extremists and pro-lifers are well known for committing acts of terror to prove a point by attacking abortion clinics. Does this make all Christians like this? Obviously not! SO Why are so many Christians ripping on Muslims, when there are people in their own group who commit or have committed acts that are equally atrocious?
Isn’t it better to just say “extremist” over “Christian” or “Muslim” Extremist- thus placing blame upon the individuals who commit these acts vs. the ENTIRE religion?

Thanks to all the Christians answering who see my point- I was a little afraid this statement would turn you off due to the wording, but I can see that was definitely not the case. Oh- and to the person who thinks I'm just being idealistic- I assure you from my viewpoint that the crap I see going on is rather indiscriminate- humans commit terror... They just look for reasons to commit it- if they want to latch on to a few scriptures in any book... that's their reasoning. I can take a bible, koran, copy of the latest Garfield book, any comic book, and any cook book- site a few passages, then say I'm a _________ Terrorist. Does that mean that everyone who reads those books is a terrorist, or that I'm looking for someone to back up my own atrocities.
Ultimately all I'm trying to say with this is quit s-itting on your neighbors...

it is true whether you are talking about Christians.... or Muslims... or Atheists.... or Democrats.... or 'Races'... you cannot 'convict' the whole on the actions of a few people who claim they are representatives of the group as self appointed people

When a Christian acts like a terrorist there are Christian leaders immediately disclaiming the actions of a few.
Where are the Muslim leaders stand on extreme Muslim terrorists?

I hear what you are saying, it is probably not good to make All people fanatics because of a few. I think with Muslims, what gets most of us in North America, is the fact they go so nuts over things like cartoons and books that say things against Muhammad. They ended up starting riots and putting death threats on authors. Christians hear rotten stuff all the time about Jesus and we don't riot in the streets and shoot people. I don't think it is just Christians who distrust this group of people from the Middle East.

Yes, everybody is an individual, and everybody thinks/acts/worships how they see fit. Only people who are actually harmful to others (I.e. Extremists) are a danger, they should be locked up and taught that preserving life is more important than what's found in a very old and possibly inaccurate book.

It's called hypocrisy. It's only more obvious in religion because the argument is always over purely imaginary qualities.
"The truth is the truth and i will say Islam is a cult when asked."

We are constantly told through Jesus own words not to be judgmental and hateful and to love our neighbor. Who is our neighbor? Everyone who is not us. Jesus was all about hanging out with ungodly people and shining our light so that people who would wish to come home to Jesus can. We are told to proclaim the Gospel. We are to be witnesses of what Jesus has done for us. We are never to "sell" Jesus. That is borderline blaspheme.
If people who call themselves Christians choose to use their free will to ignore Jesus commands and the Bible and their brothers and sisters in Christ they are ( I rarely use the term) Anti - Christ.

They all pretty much feel the way the extremists do.They just don't have the nuts to act on it.I've worked and talked to many who believe the way the extremists do.But their way is to slowly overrun us and screw up our system of laws.Like they are trying in France,Netherlands and Germany.
If you don't believe that, you need to polish your rose colored glasses.
I don't hate any one but don't F with my country.

i htink the purpose of naming the religion the extremists belong to implies what sort of terror or extremeism were talking about.
obviously if we hear about extremeists in iraq were not thinking about christian extremeists. these are people who take islam and pervert it. therefore maling them muslim extremeists.
each group has their fringe extremeists. we cant generalize or else we lose specifics in information. the news would be obviously a little less informative if we did.
