I sort of want to become Catholic, but I don't feel like going to church. The Catholic Church requires baptism, and I am not going to ask my parents to bring me down to the local church and get baptised. (I was never baptised.) I also do not feel like taking long classes to become a Catholic. I think I would rather be a Protestant, as I don't have to go to church or get baptised. I can just consider myself Protestant without setting a foot near church.

It sounds like you're looking for the religion that is most convenient to you. You have to find the religion that fits your beliefs. Laziness is not a virtue in any religion.

Don't look for a church that you like, or one that you agree with. Decide what your beliefs are, and look for the church that fits them.

That's why I'm an atheist.

You can consider yourself to be anything you want, but it seems you care about defining yourself to others. Many Protestant churches also require or encourage baptism and have classes that you must take before becoming a member.

Why not just consider yourself a Christian who does not belong to a church? I personally find a big difference between faith and organized religion.

First of all, you will need to that Jesus died on the cross to pay off your sins and rose in three days later. If you just believe in Him, then you become saved as Christian and have a gift as an eternal life. You can check my 360 page to see my testimony, I would suggest you to visit a few churches that believe in Jesus and trinity like Baptist, or a few non-demonstration for a few times until you feel more comfortable with one church.
Hope this will helps you in some way..

Scripture requires baptism so you should go somewhere where it is required.

go where you are comfortable and see good fruit in the people who attend there. I would visit and get to know some people first. What kind of lives is that congregation producing?

This goes toward your first argument. Going to church. Without fellow shipping with believers and walking in the light with your life it is near impossible to experience spiritual growth. Also, you need to express your worship of God regularly and grow in your knowledge of the One that you are committing your life too.

Yes you can be a Christian without going to church..You miss out on the fellowship and help with everyday Christian life though. Look for Protestant churches in your neighborhood. Try out a couple and see what you like.

First, you have to ask yourself why you want to be Christian in the first place. A Christian is a "follower of Christ". Christ instituted the Church and instructed all men to be baptized. Now what is baptism but a cleansing of our sins, our crimes against our God. Baptism is beautiful. We must humble ourselves, acknowledging Jesus Christ as our Creator and true Savior, and be made clean. Baptism is a sacrament, grace given to us through an outward pouring of water. God knew that we humans needed "signs" to make us understand the graces that are given us inwardly. Baptism in water helps us to understand the true cleansing of our souls. There are six other sacraments, all with outward signs, that give us abundant graces. In terms of the controversies surrounding the Catholic faith, let me make this clear: humans are weak, but God is not. He will never forsake us. Jesus Christ, Himself, was crucified by weak men. The Catholic Church continues to lead Christ's followers to His beautiful message of Truth and Love. Just be open to Him and He will lead you. God bless you. I will pray for you.

Two questions you need to be answered before you should consider yourself to be a Christian.
1. If (God Forbid) you were to die this very second are you sure you would go t be with God?

2. If you were gone and God should ask "Why should I let you into my presence? What would you tell Him?

If you don't know for sure you would be in heaven with God and you don't know why you should be allowed in. You better think about getting some spiritual training...

Church is only a place for calm down and asking question you do not understand. If you are all right with yourself, church will not be a good place for you. You know what you are doing and why your mind come out with this and don't follow. You already half of god but be humble heart and regret to your sin done. You already another half god.
The Lord is our shepard, thou shall not want.

None! Run for your life & never look back. I was raised Catholic & have NOTHING good to say about it. Don't do it. They're like the Nazis of the religious world; it's their way or the highway -- TO HELL. And the priests are all either homosexuals on the downlow or child molestors. Fuggettaboutit.
