Absolutely.

God's plan is revealed through Jesus in the Great Commandments: Love God above all, AND love each other as I (Jesus) love you. So even God's says we need to find balance with our love for Him and love of others.

Sounds weird that an addiction to God can lead you away from God, but I suspect any addiction is dangerious. "Addiction" is like being a slave (slave to what you're addicted to) ... and God gave us free will so that He doesn't have slaves love him.

Yup I've seen it. My alcoholic sister in law uses God to fill her addictive personality when she's on the wagon. Its pretty sad really to see her quoting the Bible so much, and know that in a few weeks, or days, she'll be binging on alcohol and drugs again. I guess she is just trying to make up for all the bad things she's done by acting pious and pure.

Yes... anyone who gives up family, friends, and community to have something they crave is an addict. It happens with cults, and sometimes with *accepted* religions.

(Note: don't get your knickers in a twist, I'm not saying "all.")
