Yes. I am Godmother to 9 kids (yep, that's NINE kids *sigh* I hope the parents survive till they're grown *wink*) and I have never been "confirmed" in a Christian Church. Though, I believe, this is done more in the Catholic Church than anywhere else.

Are you talking about the Catholic church? You would think they all follow the same rules, but some are sticklers and others are not. In the Catholic church strictly speaking the Godparents must be confirmed. A non-confirmed Christian may be a Christian witness to a baptism. For infant baptism there must be at least one, with a maximum of two, Godparents. If there are two Godparents they must be of opposite sex.
If you ask me, my sister and brother and law are my son's Godparents. Strictly speaking only my sister is a Godparent. My brother-in-law is a Christian witness to my son's baptism.

For Catholics, no, you don't have to be Confirmed. The roles of godparents aren't what they used to be, so you don't even have to be of the same religion anymore.

Technically, yes - the church will sometimes even ask to see your certificate.
However, does she mean a religious godparent? Or just the secular version?

being a godparent carries the resposibility to raise this child in the church. You are making the promise to the child, the parents, the church, and God
