See I don't know why they say that.... I mean I don't know your bed time... do you know mine?... of coures you don't.
So it's really "Do not eat 2 hours before you go to bed"
OK There you go.

It all depends on what time you goto bed and what you health goals are.
Assuming you are living a healthy lifestyle, are relatively active after 7:00pm and goto bed around 11:00pm, eating a healthy light meal after 7:00pm is not bad for you.
The amount of energy required and expended during the day is greater than what is needed past 7:00pm typically..so eat more frequently and most of your calories during the "active" part of the day.
The reason people say it is bad ,is typically people eat a large dinner (alot of calories and fat) then sit around and go to bed. This food will take longer to digest because you are not moving and you are laying down. If you are trying to live a healthy lifestyle this is counter productive!

The metabolism of most adult people does begin to slow down at the end of the day if they are not very active, if you exercise between 4-6PM then your metabolism will still be elevated. If you have no choice but to eat at 7:00 PM you should have your larger meal at lunch and a very light meal at dinner, the best advice is to have 6 small meals through out the day. for example if you normally have a sandwhich at lunch then eat 1/2 a sandwhich at noon and then when you get hungry again ( stomach growling hungry, not think about hungry) have the other half with a piece of fruit or salad.

Well, I always eat a lot after 7:00 p.m. Like 5 meals!!! Nothing happens to me though. I don't feel the slightest discomfort. But I know that doctors say that it is not good and will affect people who do this in the future. Eating after 7:00 p.m. may cause serious heartburn (in the future or may be now), a lot of stomach aches and release of DEADLY "gases". So, to finish this off, I would have to tell you that eating before 7:00 p.m. is healthier for your digestive system and beneficial for your overall body health.

it doesnt matter what time of the day you eat as long as your dayly calorie intake stays the same.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

Who really know the truth about that? Your body starts to go shutdown/relax mode the later it gets. All I know is if I eat a heavy meal that late, I don't lay down in any way for at least 4 hours. If it's a light meal with low carbs, it should be fine after a few hours.

I think it also depends on when you go to sleep...if you eat at 7:00 and go to sleep at 8:00, you're not active after eating, and the food won't digest quickly.
Try going for a walk after dinner to burn off the calories...

Its not that eating after 7 is BAD for you, its that they are assuming that after you eat, at 7pm, you arent doing anything to be active. Maybe you are just sitting on the couch now, or you go to sleep. You dont burn any calories, so that makes it bad. But that would be just as bad if you ate at 5pm and just sat around. Its fine as long as you get some exercise in before you decide not to do anything else for the night.

That is a longstanding myth. Ultimately, what is important is the ration of how many calories you consume and how many you burn (ie through exercise). Think of calories (that is, energy) as putting gas into a car. What time you put gas in your car doesn't have any effect on how long it will be before you have to refill; all that matters is how much you drive. Same thing with your body- it matters only how much you use it.

I don't know how the science behind it works, but its true.
Try it for a week: eat normally - no dieting, no binging. Do all your eating by 6:30 pm. You'll should find the scale a little more friendly after the seven days. Good luck.

I believe if you just eat several small healthy meals a day and work out several times a week you will be in good shape. If you eat like a pig and don't work out, yet never eat after 7:pm it doesn't seem that time is the real factor. : )) Eat healthy, in moderation and exercise you will be fit & feel great! : )
