It means that Jesus rose from the dead. Because He lives I can live also.

This word occurs only once in the Bible (Acts 12: 4) and then would be better translated passover.
The word Easter is from Eastre, a Norse goddess whose pagan festival was observed at the spring equinox. The association of this pagan goddess with the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ was only be adaptation and synthesis. There is no real connection. Jesus, being the Lamb of God, was crucified at passover time and is the true Passover (see 1 Cor. 5: 7). He was raised from the grave on the third day thereafter. It thus became a springtime anniversary, and has come to be called Easter in the Christian world.

Like I said...people blindly celebrate holidays w/o thinking about where they came from. I'm a Jehovah's Witness. Actually Christ died April 2 this year. THAT is what he told us to commemorate NOT his birth and NOT his resurection. Easter originates from a pagan holiday worshiping the fertility Goddess Ishtar. Why do u think there are bunnies (very productive animals)? BTW, IF Easter is Christ's Resurection, what in the world do bunnies & eggs have to do with it??! You don't even think of the VERY thing Easter is supposed to be. You think of some big buny & egg-hunts.

To me it means the happy spring day that we celebrate the fact that Jesus was raised as He said and that He came again to earth after death.

This is a happy time to me because the pagan symbols all signify a new birth also. The little baby bunnies and easter chicks and the thought of the egg itself and which came first, the egg or the chicken. Spring is a new seasonal birth.

Christians all were happy then and should be now coz Jesus brought some excellent news with Him and came back to prove the story.

It's also a holiday that I share with my family.

It means that here in northern Ohio spring is well under way, but not quite finished. Also chocolate, Easter eggs and getting the family together for a ham dinner.

When I was a kid, it meant they would open the balcony at church, and we could sit up there, which was really exciting for some reason...

It was one of two days out of the year...when the church was almost full to capacity...

and yes, it means that Christ loved us enough to die on a cross for our sins, that we could all have eternal life....all of us ...not just those the Christians choose

Resurrection...
The sacrifice Jesus Christ made for me..He gave His life for me willingly. He rose again...He lives..
Hosanna..the last supper..the cross..Mary first to see Him at the tomb..appearing to His disciples..
The Resurrection and the promise of Salvation for all people..How The Father couldn't look upon His son because of our sin..
It means all of these..a lot to think about...Shalom..

I don't celebrate Easter....just another meaningless holiday that allows people to eat more then they should in any given day. That's all holidays do....they make people fat...peace

The mixing in of pagan influence by the "church" sends a confused and confusing message to our culture. I celebrate the resurrection of Christ without the egg and bunny nonsense.

it was originally a pagan festival
then the christians came along and decided that 'the pagans can't have festivals so lets take them all away and make them our own' and then they said 'lets take this one and tell the people that this is the day christ died'
that's proof that jesus is just a sham
something the christians made up to take control of the country
