no not exactly , Jesus was talking about the works that He did to prove that He is the Messiah. Jesus said since He was going to be with His Father the works of His followers would be greater.
John 14:10 NKJV) "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
(John 14:11 NKJV) "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
(John 14:12 NKJV) "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
then you see in the book of Acts that when Peter and John were just walking and their shadow falling on sick people whom became healed.

No. He did say that those who were of the kingdom would be greater than John the Baptist. I think He meant, primarily, that Christians would have a greater message than John the Baptist, who died before the new covenant.
