what it is .........i bought a comp with a modem thats not compatable (as far as my research goes) with windows that im running now...........it says its compatable with windows 98 though the modem is a netodragon mdv92xp modem.....which i tried to update driver but device manager cant find one soooooooo i thought if its compatable with windows 98se i would just uninstall my current version of windows with 98se .The modem is for dial up for my kids..Will that solution work? I dont want to buy a new one if i dont have to.

Here's a Windows XP driver for your modem. It works with both XP Home and XP Pro.

That modem should be compatible with XP. You said you tried to update the driver. Does that mean that you already installed it. If so then I believe it should work, but you will not be able to update it. You also might want to look for newer driver on the internet. Sometimes one diver is used for all OSes, so you may not find a XP driver, only a general one. If that does not work then you might find one that will work for between $15 and $20. You could in fact install win 98, but with kids on the internet I would advise against it because it is less secure.

you can buy a modem (pci ) for 20.00 and install the thing . i would not change from xp to win98 , that's like going from a Escalade to a pinto
