My dog can smell anything, and if she smells it she will go for it. Doesn't matter where it is coming from she will try to get to it. It gets her in trouble all the time, what can I do to keep her undercontrol?

LOL
Believe me, I feel your pain.
The problem with most dogs (especially hounds) is that anytime they lower their head to the ground, their brains run out their nose.
When on lead (which is suppose to mean under control to a dog)- ha-ha- the trick is to teach the dog not to lower its head and focus on you.
All it normally takes is to give a strait up "pop" of the lead whenever the dog starts to lower it's head along with a command like "head up". Remember that it is imposable to make a proper correction when the lead is tight, there must be slack in the lead or you will be giving the dog a "drag" instead of a "pop"

You can't. Dogs' noses are sensitive and they use their noses like people use their eyes. Have good solid fences and when you take her out, make sure she's always on a leash. Obedience training to walk on a leash nicely might help too.

Sounds like she might be a kind of hound. They in particular are all about their noses.

Training. You can train your dog to act only on command. You risk "damaging" the dog's spirit. I suggest professional help to reduce the risk of such damage. The alternative is to live with it using physical boundaries such as fences, leashes, and other means of restraint.
