You manage to only come on here for one hour?!? wow, I'm impressed. No you aren't hurting anything. What you do on your own time is (for the most part) your personal business.

Now it does depend what you say. If it seems you are using the company internet to be inflamatory or to bash people based on their religious beliefs, then yes the company does have the right to be upset with you for being on this site.

Many companies have an internet policy though. Mine blocks a lot of websites--including gmail and myspace--so that people will focus on work. It goes against their Internet Usage Policy that they made you sign. But if your company doesn't have that policy, then for the most part, no you aren't hurting anything.

I get my work done and come here any time other than my lunch hour. I don't want to be here on my free time.

Whether you're hurting anything or not is beside the point. Your employer owns the computer you're using and if you violate his policies, you're gone. This is America. Anybody can be fired for any reason, or for no reason at all. Never assume you have a right to your job, because you don't.

As long as it does not violate company policy.

Some places have a policy that prohibits the use of their servers for anything not related to the company. My last job was that way. They had banned personal e-mails, but I still received them from other employees.
