Alot of these have been recommended by other people- they all carry multiple varieties of food.
I use Innova Evo for one of my kitties, and Wysong for the rest.
With Innova- just the dry (that kitty has some special needs)
Wysong I use the wet, dry and treats. Wysong makes a ton of different types of cat food- mine love it.
There are alot of safe foods though
go to
www.menufoods.com/recall
to see what's on the recall list- avoid those. I also suggest you avoid any dry foods with wheat gluten and wheat in general in them due to the fact that they are unsure who all received the tainted product and expect more food to be recalled soon.
you can keep updated on the recalled foods here:

This is the company I buy my dog food from. They sell cat food too.
Flint River Ranch
http://www.frrco.com/indexFlash.cfm?
They are reliable and have good prices too considering they sell high premium pet food that is all natural. I have one 7 lb dog and one 20 lb dog and the 20lb bag lasts me about a month. I usually receive the shipment 1-2 days after I place my order.
The price might seem high if you are used to buying your pet food from the local store, but I have noticed a huge difference in my pets overall health and so has my vet. I have had my pets on it for close to 2 years now.
If you call this company they will also help you choose the right type of food for your pet.

Most of the problems have been with canned food. Check the pet store to see what has been recalled.
However, I checked the label on my cat's food. The problems have been with wheat gluten. Oreo's food had corn gluten as the 2nd ingredient. That worried me. Gluten is a filler.
I looked for a food without any gluten. Meat & fish are the main ingredients. It is much more expensive ($5 for a 6 lb. bag vs. $15 for a 6 lb bag) but I think it's a better food for him and I don't have to worry about any gluten.

Canned cat food is the most recalled type. Dry foods are less affected by the recall and are a better choice - choose one that does not contain wheat gluten or any wheat products to be completely safe. You can look up the recalled foods at:

Now everyone see why I feed my pets table scraps. But, most of this should be back to normal as I do keep dry food out all the time for snacks. But, if, you have concern, Starkist Tuna (Any canned Tuna), canned chicken or Fresh Catfish (Any fish, Baked). Your cat will love you!
My woman buy a piece of fresh fish for her cat everyday! Cooked to perfection the cat love her! Ha!
But, I have found most people canned food at a Dollar Store not much price difference and I can also mash up some canned veggies like green beans, creamed corn, etc. in it too.

Here is a list of foods that are not involved in the recall.
I will give you a list that does not involve canned foods
Cat chow
Purina cat chow
The rest of them I'm not sure if they are in cans or not. these are the only ones I know that are not in cans. You can check on Hubpages.com and this is where I got the list and they said in it not involved in the recall.

I give Gracie Purina Indoor Cat food every day. At "lunch" time she gets one table spoon of canned Fancy Feast. It does have Wheat Gluten in it, but I checked the Purina website and they say they have already pulled the foods that were in question. Not all of their Wheat Gluten comes from China.

All of the food that is currently on the shelves at PetSmart is not part of the recall so you should feel safe buying it.
