he's an adult and you're a minor so yes it is illegal unless you have your parents consent. if not, then anyone can call the police on the both of you and he can go to jail if your parents dont allow you to date him and decide to press charges against him. i know it doesnt seem like a big age difference but by law it is illegal. one of the main reasons for this is that if both of you are involved in a crime and/or any illegal activity, the penalty will be more severe for him than you even if it was consentual or just your own fault and not his. plus, your parents would have to be contacted immediately and could also be penalized because you're a minor in their custody so they are responsible for you whereas his parents arent anymore. they probably wouldnt even be contacted about the incident at all unless he called them to bail him out of jail and take him home. and your parents consent for you to date him wont matter at all because you both broke the law over a crime outside of your relationship and will be charged as individuals (one adult, one minor) not as a couple. there's no discrimination in that and it would be the same situation for anyone else like 2 strangers, siblings, relatives, or friends that got involved in a crime together. it could even be as innocent as running a red light, getting into an accident, or getting caught smoking and/or drinking underage and/or as an adult (him) that provided it for an underage person (you)...sorry and i know it sucks, but just wait it out and if its meant to be you will be together when your both legal.

You said that 'everyone' said it's only a 3 year difference. Who is everyone? Your friends? First of all, you're way too young to even know what true love is, this is more like a crush. Second, he's of legal age now and could go to jail if you date him and your parents disapprove. If you really care for him as much as you say, then you need to tell him you will wait for your 18th birthday to start dating him.
Still not sure.. Dateline is full of guys his age who try to hook up with younger girls and end up getting arrested. I'm not saying he's anything like that, but the same thing can happen.

If he really cared for you he would wait for you to turn eighteen. He is an adult he shouldnt even be cosidering you as an option. I know you might think you're in love with him but trust me this will pass. Its just a school girl crush. I once dated a guy when I was 15 and he was nineteen and I thought we'd be together for ever. But I got pregnant and I havent seen him since my daughter wont ever see her father because hes too imature to take responablity. and guys who date underage girls are just looking for sex. I hope this helps you. Good luck.
P.S. be a kid have some fun I know youre saying to yourself im almost 16 im not akid anymore but the reality is you still are. Just have some fun live your life cause believe me if you got pregnant as a teen its alot harder to go hang out with your friends and have fun cause you have the baby.

NO! He is to old for you! You are to young at 15 or 16 to tie yourself to one guy. Those few years make all the difference at your age! People grow and change very much after they get out of highschool. Your job right now is to get the best education you can so your life will be easier in the future. You could mess his future up, by continuing this relationship. If it is ment to be, he will be there for you after you graduate!

It's statutory rape in most states. I don't know where u live but he can get some time in jail in most parts of the country if u two have sex before u turn 18. If u r just dating and not having sex then it's fine.

I don't think it's legal, he is over 18 & you are still considered a minor, he could get in big trouble. No one can tell you what to do but if you care so much for this guy would you want to risk his freedom to be with him?

it depends on what you guys are doing in your relationship. if you are having sex, i would look into the laws in your state that pertain to statutory rape, because if you are under legal age to consent to sex, your parents can call the cops on your boyfriend and have him arrested for statutory rape. he is over 18, so the law is very clear that he is an adult and you may be considered a child.
i am very serious. i worked on passing this law in our state about ten years ago. it is a very serious matter and can get your boyfriend in trouble if you are not careful...

Wow. That's kinda gross. I'm 16 and i dated an 18 year old. I couldn't imagine dating any older. I would ask my parents. I don't know if your close with them but ask some type of family.
